Never labelled them, but if you do crazy and stupid stuff drunk or sober be prepared for the consequences. And prancing a friend vs a stranger is to different things.

I really hope this woman will feel comfortable in the presence of men after being sexually assaulted by this predator. Hopes and prayers.

If somebody came and harassed me at work and intentionally tried to make me look like a fool in front of my co-workers and clients, I wouldn't just laugh it off and say "if I was in Barcelona on vacation and being introduced to someone and they kissed me on the cheek, it would be exactly like this, so it's okay".
|
This is bang on, but I think the correct route for the woman would be to contact the police and not make it a media story even though she's in the media this really isn't something that should be made public in my opinion. The "crime" does not fit the punishment for this guy. What he did was wrong but so minor he doesn't deserve to be publically shamed.

True but it happened live on air so it was already in the public eye. Not saying anything would be condoning it.

After reading this post I actually agree.

I think that what you are seeing here is the media continuing to fight back against harassment that a bunch of ######bros with raging male privilege mistakenly think is harmless.

I totally forgot about the FHRITP pranks. I can see how female reporters are sick of men harassing them and want to speak out to prevent other bros to do the same thing. You are right, the best thing to is to speak out against these guys. This is redundant and cliche, but honestly for one second just imagine this happening to your wife. I still think this is not sexual assault, but if this happened to my wife I know I'd be livid and would want charges to be pressed just to send a message to other guys who like to harass females at work or a bar or anywhere for that matter.

Can't we just say "everything went better than expected".

That's your career — obviously it's also your body and you have complete control of that and without anyone else's consent, they do not have the right to do anything to anyone," Davies told Batchelor.

This is a good lesson, no ones life needs to be ruined over this, but it needs to be talked about, this is a step in the right direction.

Not saying what he did was right, or justifying his actions in any way. However, I can't help feel bad for the young man. He's only 17, probably had some alcohol, and it did not seem he had any kind of malicious intent.
We all make mistakes when we are young, and it's really telling that the young man risked being identified by social media, and courageously admitted he made a mistake, and apologized to the reporter.
I hope the reporter will now consider the incident "water under the bridge." Live and learn I guess...

We live in a society that thrives on outrage but that doesn't mean everyone likes to make mountains out of molehills or partake in Internet shaming. It was a peck on the cheek and this was a teenager goofing off not some creepy 50 year old pervert. I don't condone the action but like teenagers egging cars I don't believe it should warrant criminal charges.

From what I posted.
Quote:
"Just hearing those words, it's exactly what I wanted to hear, and in all of this, I didn't want anyone to lose their job or get a criminal record, I just want people to take a second, and just think of the impact on that person. Just because I'm standing in front of a camera doesn't mean I don't have feelings and I'm not focused and I'm not trying to be a professional," said Batchelor.

Exactly, his actions were dumb, and reckless.
But calling this kid a sexual pervert, rapist, assaulter, and all the other things that were cast his way, was equally dumb and reckless based on what was seen in that video.
I'm glad the reporter seems to have taken the 'water under the bridge' approach, as the guy seemed to have learned a lesson, and admitted fault without making any excuses.

no one other than you is using those bolded terms in this thread. but he is an assaulter, being defined as one who assaulted someone. I'm not saying he needs to be locked away but people need to realize what he did is not cool. We need to talk about this, clearly it has been getting out of control including this FHITP topic.
I am happy the guy stood up and apologized and hope it goes no farther than others knowing how to act in public.

I was not talking about just this thread. I am talking about what many had been spouting in social media.

fair enough, I am not familiar with any of the social media on this topic outside of this thread. If that is indeed the case I agree that is going way too far.
