Sorry, but if this is the best the Republicans have, they should fold up shop and start over.

The "climate change is just a theory" thing is friggin' annoying but you're simply not going to get a Republican presidential candidate who will refer to that issue as anything other than a "legitimate debate". I doubt the guy is a young Earth creationist, though he's probably a creationist. My only question is "how will he govern" - his "the courts have ruled" stance on gay marriage is a pretty good indication he's not terribly radical; see Huckabee, Mike.
In other words, whoever ultimately IS the best the Republicans have, you're still going to say they should fold up shop. It really isn't getting any better. The best we can hope for as disenfranchised stakeholders is that whoever runs against Hillary can create legitimate debate on a couple of issues and hope that those issues aren't drowned out by the inevitable depressing, infuriating nonsense.
God, I hate politics. But I just can't not pay attention...

I tend to agree CHL. The best thing for American politics would be a complete rout of the Republicans. Something so severe that the Tea Party can spin off and start their own fringe party filled with the Sarah Palin, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz kooks. Hopefully from the ashes a new, respectable, reasonable party would emerge that could discuss actual ideas for fixing the finances and focus of that country.
That's why I'm pulling for Trump to win the nomination (or get close enough that he runs as a third party candidate). Well, that and the entertainment factor.

Trump is now demanding an apology from Megyn Kelly, and he continues to be amazingly childish and petty in this whole process. It's amazing to think a significant portion of Americans want someone with the maturity of a prepubescent boy in charge of their country.
But if gets the apology from Kelly isn't the race over for GOP nomination? Trump will basically have the green light to do and say anything and expect to not only get no heat from it, but get a bump from it. I think most GOP supporters love him because they wish they could do whatever the hell they want and get away with like he does.

Trump is pandering to stupid, sexist rubes. That's who he appeals to and he knows it, so a crack about a woman being 'on the rag' is something those people will find just super.
These people do think she owes him an apology. How dare this uppity bitch do anything but genuflect to the Great Pumpkin? He put her in her place and she should thank him for it and go back to the kitchen.

Megyn Kelly had a clear agenda, and was very unprofessional during the debate. She should absolutely apologize

This.
I wouldn't vote for Trump in a million years for anything, let alone President, but I have enjoyed this aspect of his campaign. One is his willingness to point out the hypocrisy of Erickson and Fox News when it comes to inflammatory and offensive rhetoric, which the right-wing media has no problems with when it applies to "liberals."
The best part of all this is that he is a wholly created Fox News candidate - made possible by years and years of the pandering to the loonies in the conservative base by that network - and now that he is threatening to mess things up for the 2016 election they are finding they cannot control their monster. It's really delicious. Even better is them trying to wound him by throwing his sexism back at him like they think that their base even cares? It's really awesome.

If Donald Trump is unable to brush off questions from a media member without playing the take my ball and go home game, doesn't that make it clear he's totally unfit to run an entire country? What happens when Putin calls him a fat ugly #######? Tactical nuclear strike?

Sadly, there are more than a few Trump supporters who would be all in favour.

The guy that sprays for bugs around our facility was around yesterday for the monthly spray. On my office wall is a sample of rock salt I collected at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. For those that don't know this is where the US defense nuclear waste is disposed. Under a salt dome in New Mexico. It's a hasn't seen water for 225 million years type of thing. It's pretty neat as the dome has movement so they mine out a room fill it with waste and a handful of years later it is completely encased in a salt barrier.
Anywho...the bag you get to put your rock in says "Permian Rock Salt 225 million years old collected from 2150 feet below ground at the disposal level"
Bug Guy: Can I ask you a question?
Me: Sure
BG: how can this be 225 million years old if the earth is less than 10,000 year old?
Me: The earth is billions of years old
BG: You can choose to believe that theory I guess but when you die....
Me: Look, let me stop you right there. It isn't a "theory"...it is. You may have a book that you think says otherwise and it may even help you in your life. But it isn't a science book. It doesn't pretend to be a science book. Don't use it as a science book.
BG: well everyone has their own opinion. I guess you don't want to hear the truth.
Me: it's really not opinion. It's fact. It is the truth.
And then I had a meeting to go to....
The scary part is I've had that conversation over and over again in the 6+ years I've lived here. I never had it once anywhere else.

Lol.
"Can I ask you a question but completely discount the answer if it isn't what I want to hear?"
I love the irony behind the statement "I guess you don't want to hear the truth."

It's really difficult for people who have internalized a secular education to even grasp how someone could legitimately believe, with absolute conviction, that that kind of silliness is true. So it shouldn't be surprising that the inverse is equally difficult. You guys were speaking different languages, in English.

It was. Fantastic tour. The salt is such a good shield that they have a lab down in the disposal level where they run experiments they have trouble running anywhere else on earth. We weren't allowed in those rooms unfortunately.
In other news Trump has admitted he's just a toddler having temper tantrums. Or at least that is how I interpret his statement.
Quote:
"I do whine because I want to win and I'm not happy about not winning and I am a whiner and I keep whining and whining until I win," Trump told CNN's Chris Cuomo on Tuesday.

Trump's poll numbers have risen even higher after the debate, and the Megyn Kelly controversy:
