Wait, wasn't Stoll charged with cocaine and Molly possession? What ever came of that.

He plead guilty to misdemeanors in exchange for the felony charges to be dropped.
Was sentenced to 32 hours of community service.

What could possibly go wrong?

Could be a steal of a contract.
Having MDMA in vegas during the summer isn't that big of a deal to me. He probably took the fall for a lot of his fellow players.
Some veteran presence on the 4th line can never hurt.

800k? There's no risk here. If he gets sent down there's no cap hit. His upside is still "totally capable 3rd line C" if he's playing well, and paying him sub-4th-line money... can't really find a reason to dislike the move.

Did more comenout on this since I last heard about it? I did not see anything about drug issues before. He was in Vegas at a pool party, it sounds like an infrequent event. Has he shown any evidence of habitual drug use effecting his personal life?

Well, he was in LA, so it's not like he was in some small town in Iowa before.

Haha came in to post the same thing, you'd think the Rangers would've learned. Stoll could still be a little more useful than Malone though.

That's incredibly lenient, I wonder how much Stoll had to pay for that sweet deal? I doubt if Joe Blow (heh) was caught doing the same thing, he'd only get a measly 32 hours of community service. That's like a few hours a month for one hockey season, probably doing the same kind of stuff he would do anyway as a member of an NHL team.
Imagine if it was African-American Joe Blow... the dude would be in jail for sure, no questions asked. Hell, if that same black guy was caught with an ounce of weed, he'd probably be in jail for years. Is there a more racist and corrupt justice system in the first world than the American one? I doubt it. Stuff like this really grinds my gears. The west is nothing more than a caste based society, we just don't call it that officially.

Nice deal for the Rangers. I figured Ducks might try and nab him for a cheap deal like this since I figured he would want to stay in Cali. Plenty of models and partying in New York for him as well though I guess.

Agreed.
I don't think it should be for anybody.
