What's the scoop on pennington? Seems like a weak bat... Maybe a defensive wiz to replace kawasaki?
If they were to get anybody else i would have thought it would be a starter to replace hutch or as insurance in case estrada comes back to earth.

^Am sure they have more moves to make over the next months to address more arms.
Sounds like a character guy to add to the bench, and maybe Travis is out longer than expected.

There is no true trade deadline in baseball. Past August 31, traded players are not eligible for playoff rosters. The Jays once traded for a starting pitcher to literally make one start at the end of a season.

End of August, though players have to clear waivers around the league first. Thus, usually the players are free agents or considered overpaid or not a fit for other teams (so they don't have any point in claiming them). So months was the wrong term...the next 3+ weeks though.

There are either two deadlines, or no deadline, depending on how you view it.
July 31 is the non-waiver deadline.
August 31 is the deadline to be playoff eligible.
But you can trade for someone at any time.
