Angels tie the Oriels 3-3 in the bottom of the 4th.

I don't want to flood the thread with any negativity as this '04 Flames feeling to this Jays run is exciting and fun to be a part of.

However, watching the Angels/Oriels game on Fox Sportsnet is really awesome. I like Buck Martinez, so no issues with commentating, but the game presentation feels like night and day between Rogers and Fox.

I'm sure there's a lot more money involved in LA, but there's just something more cinematic and energy capturing about their game presentation.

Over the course of about 5 minutes they had cameras in about 5 vastly different spots in the stadium do pans and zoom ins, all the while capturing fans cheering and watching everywhere from the upper deck to the lower bowl, mixed with different camera angles of the actual field, showing players during downtime.

I know it sounds trivial, but for a sport that is very "turn based", aka tons of time with no action, it actually makes a huge difference to me seeing them seamlessly capture the sights and sounds of a baseball game like pros, kind of making you feel like you're there, or at least give you and idea of what the surroundings and atmosphere are like.

Rogers certainly shows the crowd a lot, lord knows you have to with all the downtime, but there's something a lot more rigid and forced about their camera work at Roger's Centre, and it's almost always the same camera angle panning the same 2 or 3 crowd shots. I didn't even realize how stale and rigid the presentation was until I saw it done beautifully.

What does everyone else think, am I out to lunch? Keep in mind, I'm not upset or anything, just something that seemed immediately noticeable.

I don't think you're being negative at all. I really do like Buck and Pat, I think they have interesting things to say and Buck calls a good game. However I do agree with you. Watching Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN has the same level of quality as Fox IMO.

Watching baseball tonight on ESPN and of course they lead off with the Jays and Yankees. Then of course they ask all the analysts who they think will win the AL east and all of them said that the Jays should win the division.

I agree about the camera work - they did a nice job on the Angels game tonight.

However, as far as broadcasting the game goes, I think Buck and Pat, and Sportsnet, are as good as anything I've watched - and better than most

The Jays announcers on both TV and radio have been great forever (RIP Tom Cheek) but if you combined Fox's postseason camerawork with their announcing, you'd have a pretty good - if not homeristic - broadcast.

Where Fox makes it unbearable is with Joe Buck...gah!

I liked Tabler's story about going 4 for 4 and then being taken out for a pinch hitter in the ninth of a 9-2 game

As was mentioned last night, I'm glad that the Angels won last night. Glad to see two of the teams we are competing with playing each other right now.

I like when the count is 3-0 and Pat Tabler says "why not give him the signal to swing away" if its one of the Jays home run hitters. He does this about every 5th game or so.

Never mind the offense, here's a stat that defines the season:

Prior to Jul 23rd, the bullpen got the save in 14 of their 30 opportunities (.466)

Since Jul 23rd, they have saved 7 of 8 opportunities (.875)

(AL average this season: .704)

Edit: this is by my count, not an official stat

Couple pretty good pitches called balls thrown by Nova there. Looks to be a small strike zone today.

1-2-3 start for Mr. Price. 23 pitch first for Nova. The Yanks already had to go deep into their bullpen last night ...

Excellent ...

Over 40 pitches already. When the Jays get to that bullpen early oh boy.
