One of Russias problems is their outdated agricultural system, which really hasn't changed that much from Soviet days. Notice how the pesticides are still provided and spread by the government in that news clip? No wonder they can't react fast enough.

(Also, I wouldn't touch those crops anymore. Somehow I don't think the Russian government is the type that would be concerned about what those "powerful pesticides" they're spreading in big doses would do to people. And wildlife.)

I know, it was just a comment in frustration against the war started in the Ukraine and Putin's rule. I thought that was self explanatory.

However, thinking about it a little, anything that takes support away from Putin is a good thing not only for the rest of the world, but for the Russian people themselves, as there seems to be little care for the average Russian in Putin's regime. Yes, there's a little former glory restored, but the wealth gap continues to rise and people continue to suffer. Things aren't going to change until the real world problems in Russia overshadow the propaganda.

Putin does his utmost to help the locust situation. Bulldozes foreign food reserves.

Can things get any worse in Russia?
The drought in the S.W. USA is worse than the locusts.

What the hell is wrong with him. I think that people do need to eat more local, so if you want to restrict imported goods, that's cool. Why destroy perfectly good food and not donate to poor people or homeless? I am sure there are some of those in Russia.

As for the protest petition, Mr Peskov promises that the signatures will undergo "expert" checks.
Oh dear. If I had signed that petition, I'd be quietly packing my bags and heading towards the nearest border, before a couple ex-KGB "experts" come around to verify my signature.
