Seeing as "if true" was the qualifier, perhaps you can sort it out.

Hopefully this thread doesn't get too out of hand... Remember that it is the police and court systems job to pass judgment. There are many actual rapes and many dishonest accusations that happen, so I hope the investigation proves effective.

I really hope it's not true. I very much enjoy Kane as a player.
But if it is I hope there is justice. Rape shouldn't be let off easy.

If this is true, I really hope this finally gets the d-bagness out of his system. He really needs a wake up call.

Every time this issue comes up it angers me.
They don't allow the name of the girl to be released to protect her (which is good, and an obvious strategy).
But they publish the name of the alleged perpetrator. Who then is immediately guilty in the eyes of the public (as can be seen already in this thread).
It is so wrong, IMO, to announce the charges publicly. If he is convicted, then by all means, crucify him. But it is completely unfair to have someone's reputation slaughtered publicly, on allegations alone.

The flip side is targeting of rich guys because they are rich. Doug Gilmour and Kobe Bryant being two examples I can think of. If this goes beyond a police investigation, that's probably going to be what this boils down to. "Rich, entitled guy sexually assaults woman" vs. "golddigger looking for money."

Who is seeing him as guilty in this thread? Looks like a lot of "if this is true..." type of posts.

If he is guilty of the crime being reported, he needs more than a wake up call.

Which is why it looks like the police went through some big steps to try to keep this quiet.
Unfortunately because Kane is such a big star, they couldn't.

There's also the whole thing about trauma victims who lose credibility because of the effects of said trauma aspect that people always seem to conveniently forget when it's a star athlete or celebrity.

Heard this on Sirius NHL radio this morning. One of the hosts could only say that he was impressed that Kane had a home in Germany. What a cool place to spend the offseason. (there was no mention of rape at this point mind you).
It kills me that anyone would jump to the conclusion that Hamburg referred to the city in Germany and not the possibility that it is a town near Buffalo, NY. You know, since he had just said that police in New York were investigating Kane.....

Kane doesn't have a spotless reputation to begin with, so that is going to play into public perception as well (fair or not).
First of all, I hope the allegations aren't true. If they are true though, I hope it doesn't become another case of paying them off to keep quiet.

No charges yet so really can't say anything about it yet. Flames fans should remember Ferlands case and that this will not be cut and dry for a while

Some one should be rotting in jail for this.
Kane, if he did in fact commit rape, or the girl if she is lying.
