In a way...but it seems like ttk is really going to revitalize Destiny for a lot of people.
I'm little bummed I'm losing some of my favorite weapons, but at least it looks like bungie will be rolling out at least as many new guns as vanilla Destiny had to start last year.
Saw a quote from today saying that new white and green weapons could possibly have higher attack values.

Bungie says that when you load up The Taken King, you might even find white or green weapons with higher attack values than your poor 365 Fatebringer and Vision of Confluence. RIP.

The changes sound terrific. Can't believe they are completely wiping Dinklebot from existence. That's a crazy investment, going back in and reworking the entire core game.

Don't get me wrong, I love the changes. But it has kind of killed HoW for me. No real desire to pick up gear/guns that will be totally outdated in 6 weeks. Time to take a small break and catch up on backlog.

No real problem with the changes. Sure pretty much everything we do from this point forward is essentially pointless but there's nothing wrong with taking a break and coming back refreshed and ready to jump back into the grind of things with everything being 'reset'. Was worried that they would only take minor steps in changing the overall stale state of the game but this is completely necessary if they're actually going to make a difference to new, veteran and returning players.

I too welcome the change. I just don't have as much time as others to sink into the game, so I only have a few exotics and maybe half the legendaries (if that). Never had enough material to re-roll anything much too, so I was sort of stuck with what dropped.

Now with the 'reset' coming, I'll be back in line with a bunch more players, which I think is a good thing. I do find it odd where people are saying "I just wasted my whole year because I can't bring my legendaries to year 2". Didn't you have a ton of fun playing though and earning all that loot? And now you can do it all over again - isn't that sort of the point of playing?

Anyone considering starting a new character from scratch? Once taken taken king launches? Go thru the entire story from the start and level a player that way. I might.

Massive - Yup.
Mulitplayer - Yup.
Online - Yup.

For me, a MMO would need to be much more in-depth then what Destiny is:
-Trades/Professions.
-An actual economy, does not need to include trading, but more then glimmer/shards.
-Matchmaking/Social hub that is more then just kicking a ball and dancing.
-Different factions that equate to more then rep grinds for weapons.
-Different talent trees/builds.
-Different armour/customizations for the guardians.

Don't get me wrong I love Destiny, but as a player of WoW/ The Old Republic / etc. it really is a FPS with MMO elements. A loot grind. Which is fine, but lets not make it something it is not.

Yup. At the same time there's nothing wrong with that it's a fine line to tread without many predecessors to draw from.

Really like the changes to leveling they're bringing in with Taken King... gonna pick up House of Wolves this weekend and get caught up.

I'm with Mcree in starting a character from scratch again. With what they said about reorganizing the story missions, and having a new ghost, and somehow incorporating the grimore cards, it might actually make the game a little more immersive.

I have a favour to ask... Does anyone want to give me a hand with Crota's End? I have two 34s and a 33, but I have never once done anything in Crota's End other than sneaking to the first bridge on my hunter before getting eaten by a pile of Hive.

I'm trying to knock off the "Year One" achievements, and Hard Mode Crota is one of them. I'll probably have to do Normal Mode first though, no?

Might be cheaper to just wait until the Taken King year one edition comes out with vanilla, the dark below, house of wolves and the taken king, all for $79 (I believe)
