His stats say he's a decent hitter. He'll get it going.

Fantastic outing for Estrada tonight. Great job.

Ya, pretty much:

Last 7 games: .087/.120/.087
Last 15 games: .260/.269/.280
Last 30 games: .296/.327/.357

only 2 hits today for the Twins. Nice job by the Jays and Estrada. Hopefully they can win one of the next two in order to take 3/4 against the Twins, and hopefully take 2/3 against the Yanks.

I love seeing seeing so many batters being late on Estrada's 90mph fastball. Really shows how he kept them guessing.

Facing a pitcher tomorrow that's making his big league debut. Perfect opportunity to jump on him quick and get into that Twins bullpen early. I could go for a laugher after the last few close one's.

This is the team (well, even better than the team) we all imagined when we said "If only they can get the pitching going". They are lights out right now, I feel so confident when each game begins.

Great game tonight. Winning a game with only 3 runs scored is just what this team needs.

now they are 5-37 when scoring 3 or less.

That's pathetic.

They've taken 6 of the last 7 ... weird time to post this.

And yeah, it's bad, in fact, worst in the league, but even the 15th ranked team has a .240 win% in that situation.

That's more of a reflection on how bad our pitching has been this season. It's a nice departure to have 4 starters that are actually throwing the ball effectively.

The Cardinals are 23-31 for a .426 win %.

As for the Jays, for the record, last night's win vaults them into 28th position in this situation; their Pythagorean win % when scoring 3 or fewer is .229 which tells you that they've been fairly unlucky. Which, when you look at their run differential, you can see. It just stinks that such an unlucky season (almost historically unlucky) comes for a team with a) this lineup and b) a 21-year playoff drought.

Oh well! They are free and clear in a playoff position as we wake up this morning. The Orioles lost last night, and so did the Angels - so the Jays are actually a game behind home field advantage in the Wild Card game.

CG - I guess what I was trying to get at is that this is a pretty weird time to be finding something to complain about. I'm just trying to enjoy the ride while also attempting to temper my enthusiasm. I'm sure we can all agree on hoping for another win today.

Hutch is the only starter that I still have reservations about, but he is facing Duffey who is making his MLB debut so it'll be interesting.

Hutch at home I'm fairly comfortable with, but my god he's bad on the road.
