So instead of getting dumb-dumbs* to learn how to speak properly, they've changed the dictionary to accept the way dumb-dumbs use words. Great...

(No offense meant to anyone who uses words incorrectly, but which may now be accepted by ba$tardisations of the dictionary.).

Of course we use Oxford.

In recent years an extended use of literally (and also literal) has become very common, where literally (or literal) is used deliberately in non-literal contexts, for added effect, as in ‘they bought the car and literally ran it into the ground’. This use can lead to unintentional humorous effects ( ‘we were literally killing ourselves laughing’) and is not acceptable in formal contexts, though it is widespread.

It's sad, but even without the acceptance, people would keep doing it irregardless

and frankly, I could care less!

The sad part is people are discussing grammar in the New Arena thread instead of the new arena.

There is literally no news to report.

The mods should add a poll to this thread:

When the new arena is announced, should we start a new thread? Yes/No.

That should add some spice to our life. Ha.

I know a inside source on the arena and no I will not mention who or where the source comes from. What I can confirm is there has been numerous posts on this thread that hit very close to the reality of the project. From everything I have heard it really will be a top notch facility. I have not heard anything on time lines unfortunately. Even the information I was told was limited as per proper professional etiquette

and no I do not frequent orange Julius lines.

What is the connection to socks?

A sock tax by the NDP is the general consensus on this forum.

Yeah I just hope that when there actually is some news/announcement on a new arena, that a new thread will be started.

It will be a transformational thread that will be embraced by everyone. The new thread will be announced in a few weeks (or after the election).

Yes, I'm not a fan of mega threads when there is a significant development. I like to see everyone's reactions and I dont want to searching through multiple pages to see where it was announced
