See, I don't really want a convertible "field house stadium". As has been proven time and time again, multisport facilities rarely excel at providing the best layout for any sport. I'd love a football specific retractable roof stadium of around 40,000. The field house can be a seprate building. For all this waiting the project better be a stunner! After just returning from Phoenix, their facilities blow ours out of the water. It's time for Calgary to regain the confidence it once had in the 80's when they were building things a city of its size had no business building.
What if it were a field house/track that had retractable seats, so there wasn't a huge space between the stands and the field during football games like there is in Commonwealth?
Well, I can tell you that my socks will be knocked off.
No socks eh... I read you loud and clear. The project will include a giant indoor waterpark! Finally calgary can compete with edmonton... Now if they could just shoehorn a giant mall with a fake pirate ship into the project.

I bet it includes a baseball stadium and the Chicago White Sox are relocating here.
I think the two best guesses so far about the veiled sock comment are a soccer team coming with the stadium, or the stadium will be covered meaning we can wear flip flops to football games.
Haha, not the tire tread comment fellas... the 'wow' factor; also referred to as thy socks being blown off. More 'sports oriented; than Edmontons', that's for sure.
There will be a World of Warcraft arena?
In all seriousness I hopes an announcement of an MLS team comes with. That would be doubtful, but cool and I will likely be a STH.

It's obvious that the complex is going to be one building in the shape of a sock with the football stadium in the ankle, and the hockey rink in the foot.

I think is what Muta is hinting at and, if true, it would be absolutely amazing. It would be awesome to join the big boys club with TO, Van and Montreal.

If there's going to be a retractable roof, I hope it's similar to Cowboys Stadium/Lucas Oil Field, where the endzone seating has a fair amount of windows to let natural lighting in. Heck, would be even better if they could mimic like Vikings new stadium.

I'd even be OK with something like Centurylink in Seattle where the stands are covered but not the field.
I find retractable roof stadiums need to be done precisely right otherwise it feels like an indoor arena (BC Place or University of Phoenix).
Safeco, although a ball park, is a great example of an outdoor stadium that can be covered when needed.

Who is this Muta guy? The lost, b@st@rd son of Ken King? Quit teasing us like this - you're literally killing me. I can't keep getting my hopes up like this and then yet another month goes by with zero news or tidbits. At this rate, I'm gonna be on my deathbed when it finally gets announced.
