I said AHL, but only because he was already playing against men. That being said, he may have been overwhelmed a little in that league, so Brandon could be a great choice to learn a lot of fundamentals and practice them a great deal against lesser players. The AHL could be just as good for his development though. Tough choice.
With the Smid injury looking like it might end his career, Wotherspoon, or possibly Culkin/Morrison, have a chance to make the team out of camp. That leaves a bit more of an opening in Stockton for Kylington to play, say on the 2nd pairing:
Any combo of the 2 who don't make the Flames-Wotherspoon/Culkin/Morrison
Kulak-Kylington
Sieloff-AHL veteran
I think there's room for him to play in Stockton if they choose that path.
Edit: Ah crap, forgot about Nakladal. That might push Kylington to the WHL no matter what.

From the scouting reports I've read his defensive game needs a lot of work so the AHL may be too daunting a task for him this early in his career. I would expect the WHL will be a better place for him to start out.

He was playing against men...but so poorly that it dropped him out of the first round.
I say let him go back to playing with his peers and regain his confidence and fundamentals. There's no need to get rich quick here.

I'd rather see him play 20+ mins and be a big part of the puzzle in Brandon than rotate in on the bottom pairing in Stockton.

I think I'd send him to Brandon this year. He'll get more minutes and he'll be amoung guys closer to his own age group (which I imagine will make the NA transition easier).

Surprised there is not more favoring the AHL considering how highly some thought him in prospect ranking.
I chose AHL, but maybe I am re-thinking it.

So nobody sees the ECHL as an option?
I know it has that stigma where if you are an ECHLer you're basically a lost cause, but that's not necessarily true, especially as an 18 year old. Not to mention that the Flames have now own the ECHL team and have it set up to be a developmental team as well.
I doubt it happens, but it's possible IMO.
He'd get a ton of minutes there.
He'd have the option to be called back up to the AHL team.
He'd be playing against pros.
He'd be coached by a coach the Flames hired, and would have Pascal keeping a close eye on him.

The only issue I have with the ECHL is it still tends to be somewhat of a goonish league.

I agree. Let him figure out that side of his game in juniors, before trying to turn pro. Take the long view with him. How do you turn this guy into an NHLer 3-5 years from now, not 1-2.

To me, it sounds more like Chillington. "Chilly" would be a good hockey nickname.

Over the last year Kylington seems to be a coach killer. You don't play on so many teams in a year because you are helping the coach being too successful.
The Flames need to get him under their own coaches.
As well if PROVOROV does not make the jump to pro as a 19 year old... he will likely be back in Brandon.
Bukarts who had 33 goals 74 pts in 62 games and 18 pts in 16 games in the playoffs....has indicated he plans to be back in Brandon as a 20 year old.
Only 2 imports allowed
Who makes Brandon a better team? I would think that the Wheat Kings are more interested in winning this year rather than player development.
