Matthias didn't play center except when they had injuries, he's not a very good center
decent big 3rd line winger but not a good center
when healthy last year it was
Sedin
Bonino
Richardson
Horvat
when Richardson was injured it was filled mostly by Vey or on rare occasions Matthias
this year it's most likely
Sedin
Horvat
Sutter
Vey
unless one of the Utica centers makes a step up, but for the most part the centers (McCann and Cassels) are a year away, so it's really only Gaunce as most likely

^^^^OUCH.
Not sure what I think of this yet. Bonino was nothing special and offered little outside of occasional offense. I have always liked Sutter but that could just be some old school bias. Definitely don't think the canucks came out ahead here.

They better do something special with those draft picks. Ugly.

So in Calgary, it will probably be
Sedin - Backlund
Horvat - Monahan
Sutter - Stajan
Vey - Bennett
yes please!
And in Vancouver, hard to say how they try to match them up, but who cares?! No matter how you slice it, the results favour Calgary nicely.

I'd add in Arizona too, but I don't think they even have a dumpster left to set on fire.

Wow, I like Sutter (or at least I used to, pre-Nuck), but given his contract and the add-ons, Vancouver get bent on this one.

...and with the layoffs/cuts to Glendale fire departments to keep the Coyotes in Glendale, the last thing you want is a dumpster fire.

For the Pens, Bonino+Fehr+small upgrade on pics+Clendening isn't bad at all. Their cap situation isn't quite as terrible as I would have thought (although I think they need Maata and Poulliot to play pretty big minutes).

Already trading the main piece in the Kesler deal doesn't look good. I like the deal for Pittsburgh. Hopefully some of their young dmen can step up for them and they can put together a solid year.

Don't you mean the Benning/ Weisbrod retool? There is a common denominator here after all.

Benning tells the media he hopes to have a Sutter extension worked out in the next few days.

On the Pittsburgh side...
I think Bonino could fit in better in the east, and on the Penguins.
Plus they save $1.4M in cap hit - which they really need.
Then they get Clendening and a small upgrade in picks.
Very good trade for them.

Fair point on Sutter's contract, but I like the guy much more than I like Bonino.
I think Sutter takes a step this year.
