Default Matt and Eric Show Taken Off The Air

Seems kind of sudden. Could it be failed contract negotiation?

That's got to be it. It was a ratings hit as far as I know.

They were the most palatable morning show on radio. Good banter, jokes, and they didn't spend half the show:

- Asking "troll" questions for viewers to call in and rant about "Do you think its okay for someone to cheat on their spouse? Call us and give us your side!"

- Do "click bait" lead ins to upcoming "stories". "In 5 minutes we'll tell you which celebrity checked into rehab, and which city got bombed last night".

Yep, that's what I really liked about them, just old school radio banter, and it worked well.

X929, Cjay and all those guys have all moved into the internet style "Here's some morality/gear grinder question, now you guys take over the show with your thoughts".

Uhh, thanks guys, but I already go on the internet like everyone else.

That sucks. Even Francis was decent in that format. Really surprised by this.

Oh they totally did this, don't kid yourself. I am (was) subject to their mediocre morning show when I hang out with my parrot before work (thankfully, I have XM in the car).

They also would work "BIKE LANES AMIRITE" in about every 10 minutes for a good two months.

Still, their banter was much more good natured than most of the crap out there. I assume your parrot would agree with me, given that you two listened in the morning.

Naw I just leave it on Jack because of the variety. He seems to like 80s pop too.

They play this "WOOPEE!" radio SFX on there however that he's picked up, and while it's usually cute, it can get pretty annoying.

In other news, Eric Francis apparently was on a radio show for 12 years.

Wow, if that's a standard to make a good or honorable show...

Good on them?

This doesn't surprise me, not just because 12 years is a really long time for any morning show, but because Rogers did some pretty intense telephone surveying/focus groups over the last nine months or show on all their radio properties in Calgary, but specifically on Jack FM.

For all the hate Eric Francis gets on here, I never minded him on Jack. I agree with other posters saying that their show was the least annoying one. Some of those morning shows are ridiculous/pathetic/brutal. Theirs was not.

Once some posters here experience Howard Stern they're going to have a whole new understanding of what passable radio is. All these morning shows we have here are unfunny, mindless drivel in comparison.

I turned around on Eric Francis after the whole Darryl vs. Brent thing. As most of us here, I thought he was just starting a rumour, throwing poo poo to the wall. I probably railed myself. But it turned out he was right.

Guy is a decent journalist. And a very hard worker. He's the Bryan Seacrest of Canadian sports journalism.

This type of move usually means that they've signed with a different station to take over their show when their Jack contract ends. Typically, the current station takes them off the air immediately so there isn't continuity of them signing off one station on Friday and somewhere else on Monday.

Neither of them seem particularly upset by their Twitter posts, and they're not allowed to say anything about their futures due to a confidentiality agreement.

They'll likely be showing up at another station within 6 months (probably less than that).

I am stunned that nobody above has commented on Eric's post about doing more sports.....my first thought was him doing something on the fan, but given they are owned by Rogers.......maybe he lands on qr77?
