Is this the year Flames break the Honda Center Curse
So, I've been thinking a lot about if the Flames are a better or worse team than last year and I'm optimistic, but I'm not anywhere close to say they are on the brink of a massive break out.
Something that I thought would be a clear sign of improvement would be if we manage to break the Honda Center Curse. It's not enough to say if they win one game there they're going to get the cup, but everyone knows it's been a while and the ducks are honestly one of the strongest teams in the league right now.
The last time the Flames won (unless I've mixed this up) in Anaheim was 26/04/06.. Almost 10 years. So, is this the year the Flames win in that fracking building, what makes you think so?
(P.S. Full list of results against the ducks at home below)
The Flames are about to embark on another golden age for the franchise. A Stanley Cup will be gained by the 2020-21 season. Calgary will beat Anaheim (who also have a competitive team). However, the Flames will be a force to be reckoned with, in the next 5 years.
Yay, someone from my time zone made a thread so I can get my response on the first page!
I went with undecided on this one. Over the past decade I have seen the Flames find every way to lose in Anaheim and have started to believe the curse is real. Unless something is done, such as sacrificing a Disneyland mascot or recruiting a local who can shoot a knucklepuck, it could go on for decades. On the other hand there is no such thing as a curse and the Flames this season could be better than the 2006 team.
In conclusion I have low expectations for games at the Honda Center and will be very excited when the curse is broken. I also hope Calgary wins the division so they don't need to win any games in Anaheim.
A fair share of the curse came from being the second of back to backs or the last game on a west coast trip. I suspect Burke pulled some strings because it doesn't happen this year. infact twice we start a roadie there...so yes, it's over folks.

The last game in our playoff series we were a goal away from doing so, then Ramo was shoved in the next to end the series. I believe the hockey Gods owe us one, or as I like to call them "random chance".
I was certain they would break the curse last year. There were games there when the Flames were playing quite well and the Ducks were not playing particularly well. The Flames deserved to win and the Ducks got lucky bounce after lucky bounce to win in the Honda Center yet again. I was heartbroken several times. Just for my own sanity I will assume they will never win there again, and then be pleasantly surprised if it ever happens.

Given that both Perry and Getzlaf will be 30 this season, I'm foreseeing that the wheels will come off and they'll be reduced to 4th liners. And then I woke up....
Superstition is closely connected with confidence in sport perhaps only to a point where it would completely illogical to continue to believe it. The "curse" is getting ridiculous and I think everyone sees that. The player will overcome it this year on their first try.
I voted yes because it's an absurd curse that really shouldn't have gone on this long in the first place. In a league where there is now a lot of parity a losing streak this long makes no sense so I'm going to play the odds here.
