Hathaway will spend at least a bit of time with the Calgary Flames this year. This should likely put him in the top 20, imo.

He received high praise from Conroy and Treliving all season and earned his NHL contract. Second in team fitness at training camp last year behind Gio.

Lance Bouma with better offence. A right-shooting Micheal Ferland.

Yup, he's got a good chance to make some noise.

Based on what?

Bouma just scored 16 goals at the NHL level...but this guy with 19 at the AHL level is better? Does he have the same defensive acumen? Can he PK as well? Is he a locker room leader?

Sorry but those kind of statements are ridiculous when the guy hasn't played a second of NHL hockey.

I hope Hathaway has a long and productive career with the Flames, but there is NOTHING suggesting that will be the case.

Bouma gets so much disrespect for what he has done for the club around here...it really is bizarre.

That was how Conroy described Hathaway. I don't remember Conroy's exact words, but he was asked to describe Hathaway's game and that was essentially what he said.

It's in no way disrespectful of Bouma. Not sure why you would think it is.

While being projected a scorer - just like Mangiapane - Pavel is also bigger, stronger and meaner. He was also drafted sooner - and for a reason. Heck, even the russian factor isn't in play since he's already in NA.
Wotherspoon was drafted sooner than Gaudreau too, and for a reason.

Well, I get it - we got blessed with Johnny. But guys please - miracles doesn't happen that often...
The statistics I'm looking at say that Mangiapane is 60% likely to make the NHL, while Karnaukhov is 21% likely to make the NHL. Which one is the miracle?

Went Seiloff, I still think he has a shot depending on how he does this year.

I'm pretty sure it was just "right handed Lance Bouma", minus the stuff about having more offense. I don't recall Conroy mentioning anything other than the right handed thing. It was a stylistic matchup, not a point one.
