Default The Weekend Thread

What are you doing this weekend?

There are a lot of events that don't deserve their own thread. I thought I'd start a thread to give some ideas for people looking for something to do!

So what are your plans?

Baseball is so fun live. I've gone to a number of MLB games, but since living in SoCal I've never gone to a Dodger or Angels game. For shame CroFlames.

I'm in the midst of purchasing a new place so mostly house stuff during the weekends for me now.

Cool thread though to just come and share.

Got the mom in law staying with us this weekend, ended up going to the zoo today. Hadn't been in years.

As someone who loved the dino part as a kid, I was already preparing to have my childhood shattered by seeing how crappy it actually is. But I was actually impressed with those new, animatronic ones they have now. The T-rex and dilophosaurus were cool.

Best thing that ever happened to the Dawgs was getting the boot from Foothills stadium by the late Calgary Vipers. Now they thrive in Okotoks and lead the league in attendance numbers.

That is phenomenal. Took the wife to the game last night, so great to spend a night at the ball park.

Home improvment. Today I installed A/C, tomorrow I'll be painting, Monday steam clean the carpets in the morning then drinking beer and BBQing for the afternoon.

The WMBL playoffs start tomorrow night in Okotoks with the Dawgs playing the Mavericks from Medicine Hat in the first round of the best of 5 playoffs. Games 1 and 2 are 7:05 PM at Seaman Stadium on Sunday and Monday night.

Dawgs finished the season with a 29-19 record, good for third overal in the league standings behind Lethbridge and Weyburn.

Dawgs are looking to go deep in the playoffs and will be exciting baseball for those who want to watch.

First order of business was sleeping in. Then my oldest son dropped by with coffee for everyone and we visited for a bit then went to Inglewood for Sunfest. Wandered around there, had a blast, then went for supper and came home to watch movies. Tomorrow we're hoping to go to WBC to get in some ride time. Monday, we're heading out west of Sundre somewhere, to visit with some old friends who are camping out there. I'd like to go to YaHaTinda first, since it's been a few years since we there and it's just so beautiful.

I took in Blues Fest yesterday. There were some really great acts and the weather was beautiful. A great day to chill out in the sun and enjoy some music.

Dawgs win a nail bitter with a 6-4 victory. Leads of 4-0 and 5-1 evaporated late in the game as the Mavericks scored 3 runs to make it a one game. Dawgs scored an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th and shut down the Mavs in the top of the 9th to secure the win.

Game #2 is Monday night @7:05 PM.

Took the family up to the Sunshine Coast, what a great place. I've lived out here for 15 years and never been, sure glad I did. Quiet, peaceful, a real nice laid back feel.

Terrible view for lunch.

Dawgs win game #2 in come from behind fashion with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th for a 5-4 victory. They fell behind early by a 1-4 score and tied it with a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 4th and a solo homer in the bottom of the 5th. Finally a throwing error allows the Dawgs to score the winning run.

Tried the new disc golf course off 22X in Lloyd Park today. It's right next to a swamp so it's really humid and there's lots of bugs. Not a great location, but it's a fun course. Parred the front nine and then fell apart on the back stretch, including an 8 on 17.
