Any UFC fans out there?
Anyone checking out the upcoming UFC this Saturday?
Just looking for differing opinions on the upcoming main event.
I know im in the minority but i really like Babalu to upset Liddell this weekend and take the belt from him.
Thoughts? Opinions?

I'm also looking forward to the UFC this weekend, I do this Babalu is very dangerous but I'm not sure he'll be able to take out Liddell, that guy is a machine.
Sad to hear St. Pierre got hurt and now BJ Penn gets the shot at Hughes...

For those of you with the Shaw Digital Box, I was hunting in the VOD part, and in "Freebies", there's a nice 10 min preview of the Liddell/Babalu, and the Forrest/Bonnar 2 match.
Technically, this is Liddell/Babalu 2 too, from what I saw in that preview. The other fight didn't seem to be high marque tho...

Babalu is good, but I don't think he will be able to last standing up with chuck, and I don't know if he'll be able to effectively take him down to the mat.
I think the Iceman takes it.

I was in Vegas about a month ago, and I've got $20 that says Sobral beats Liddel.
The Bonnar, Griffin fight should be another war, as neither guy is gonna want to dissapoint, and neither will want to take it to the ground.
As for St. Pierre, I was kinda upset when I heard he got hurt. I really think he could have beat Hughes.

This pay per view had better deliver a little more than the last one.... there's usually only 1-2 fights to really look forward to, and if they're not good or over in a few seconds... colour me disappointed, again. But yeah, I'll be ordering it.

Yea I hate it when you are looking forward to a match and getting all hyped over it and then it is done in 30 seconds. Huge let down and then you feel so ripped off.
I was looking forward to the Hughes\St. Pierre match as I really like both of them, oh well next time hopefully.

Yeah, I really wanted the Ortiz/Shamrock fight to deliver a bit more... though my expectations were low after Ken's previous fight where he slipped on the mat 20 seconds in and was ground and pounded. Thought maybe he'd put up a bit longer of a fight w/ Tito.
And Matt Hughes looks unstoppable... I like watching him fight, but it would be nice if it got to the second round.

Bah, getting a crappy product is a chance you take with any live sports event. Sometimes you get sleepers and sometimes you get great matches (example: Bonnar v. Griffin 1, which was free no less).
Anyway, I think they'll both be great fights.

Does anyone here have a PVR (personal video recorder) with either Shaw, Bell or Starchoice??
I have to miss the fight, and was wondering if you can order the paperview, and the record it on the PVR? is that allowed?

I am hearing a lot of people saying tha Babalu will pull the upset, but I really can't see it, he is on a great role no doubt, but I just see Chuck as a tougher fighter, both physically and mentally.

I think if they stay on their feet Babalu is in trouble, but if he can get Chuck down even for a little while early in the fight and lay a few elbows that could lay some doubt in Chucks head opening up more in Sobrals arsenal.
Either way it should be a good fight and i dont see it being over early no matter who is victorious.

Big UFC guy here. I do like Sobral if the match hits the ground (which it should), Chuck will win the match if he can stay on his feet.
Really looking forward to the Griffin - Bonnar, should be great!

I would be surprised if Chuck loses this one but it should be a good match. Other then that I am not very impressed with this card and still debating whether I will get it or not.

I won't be ordering this months payperview as a protest of the poor effert the UFC has been making with thier fight cards. Total crap, Lately Pride's 5th bout has had more talent then UFC's headliners... Either start adding more talent to the cards or go back to bi-monthly but right now they have themselves spread out too thin and are not paying their fighters enough for good matchups (only 2 fighters seems to be getting a good pay out of the full card, insane)
They main card Babalu/Liddell is a good bout... outside of that we're left with nothing but fighters from their TV show really... common. The Diaz fight is the only one that has any interest for me outside thier main event and thats not worth $39.99
Pride's Final Conflict Absolute only has four bouts right now
Open-Weight Tournament:
Mirko Filipovic vs. Wanderlei Silva
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Josh Barnett
winners fight eachother
Reserve Match:
Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Sergei Kharitonov
This is huge and far better then anything on the UFC card and it it yet to fill out, it'll get even better
Pride's 32 Real Deal
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Mark Coleman
Mauricio Rua vs. Kevin Randleman
Josh Barnett vs. TBA
Phil Baroni vs. TBA
Vitor Belfort vs. TBA
Mirko Filipovic vs. TBA
Kazuyuki Fujita vs. TBA
Wanderlei Silva vs. TBA
When will UFC get a clue and stop ripping off thier MMA fans and start giving us the goods... their free SPIKE TV Fight Nights have been amazing and better matchup/fight cards then their PPV. There's a time when you're asking too much from their fighter to deliver, time for Dana and his boys to start giving us better fight cards not 1 and 1/2 matchups...

I'll also be watching this and hope Lidell wins. Although, I'm not as excited as I was when it was reported he'd be fighting Wanderlei next. WTF? How can you announce something like that and then cancel it because of differences with Pride. You'd think they'd have worked those out in advance of having the staredown in the ring on PPV.
With St. Pierre getting hurt, this may be my last purchase in a while if it doesn't deliver. I'll spend my PPV money on other events. The first WFA event was excellent a few weeks ago.
As Hannah commented, the UFC fighters aren't getting paid nearly enough. There was a detailed breaking on the Fight Network Web site recently. I'm too lazy to dig up the link, but it is amazing that only Gracie and Ortiz get paid big bucks (and to a lesser extent, Hughes and Liddell). Even then, it's only a couple hundred grand compared to boxers who get paid millions to headline a PPV event. And the UFC PPV #s have been higher than boxing recently.
It's a wonder these fighters haven't protested yet, given how much goes into preparing for a fight and the limited earning window they have in their fighting careers.
On another note, can't believe there's going to be a Shamrock/Ortiz III. C'mon...at least it's not on PPV.

Apparently as the headliner on the Spike TV finale of The Ultimate Fighter 4. Shamrock plans to retire after that fight, but he should save himself the trouble of getting beat up once again.

I can't believe there is a Shamrock/Ortiz III. It's going to end just like the last one did - thank god it's not on PPV.
I too was pretty disappointed when I heard GSP was injured - I really think he has a chance at taking down Hughes. It'll suck if Penn actually does manage to beat Hughes (although I don't think he will) after GSP already beat him.
Griffin / Bonnar is going to be a beauty, but I think Griffin takes it this time. I was cheering for Bonnar last time, and probably will again, but the guy just doesn't seem to have any finish in him. We'll see if this time's different.

Anyone getting pumped for the PPV this Sat???Hughes will be hard to beat,I think if GSP wins it will have to be a submission.Monson had better look out for Sylvias big foot to the side of the head.Frank Mir and Brandon Vera should be a good fight as well.
