Default Small Form-Factor PCs

Hey guys,

I have always built my PCs myself in the past, but after ditching my old tower, I don't think I want to dedicate the space and no longer want the noise of a big tower in the house.

So far I've been eyeing the Alienware X51 as it's quite sleek and not that big.

The price point for the higher spec is a little expensive though, ideally I am hoping to spend around 1500$ CDN.

Anyone have any ideas for alternatives? or experience with an X51?

If you normally build computers, I'm sure you're aware of memory express, but if not they have a good lineup of micro PC's:

What is the goal of the SFF PC? Do you need graphics performance? (video editing, gaming, etc.?)

I miss the days of building Shuttle based PCs. It was fun to cram as much power as I could into a small box.

If you build yourself, get yourself a nice miniITX case and board. These will be nice and will fit your size requirements.

It looks like the Alienware is using a customized silverstone case or something very similar

If you are looking for just a small PC and gaming/graphics are not a concern, you could always just get one of the small integrated solutions like this Zotac

I was looking at the Asus G20 as an option instead of alienware but I'm undecided. Not making a rushed decision and will probably try to go custom and likely save money in the process.

If you look up steam machines, a lot of the makes have other windows based machines in a SFF
