Yes, I have. Even for myself, here we really don't have anything like it. You are kinda stuck with Walmart, Crappy tire....etc. And a ton of the product seems to be seasonal, or junk.

Pylon, as long as you always have holding tank chemical and poop paper on sale for a reasonable price you will do well!

Was going to make this exact post - great store.

There sure are a billion products you could carry, are you going to be able to stock it all and also compete with the pricing, (albeit terrible), of RV dealers?

Cabelas and Bass Pro would also be competition for a camping store.

I would love a store with a good RV section. I hate having to go to walmart or canadian tire to get my RV stuff. Make sure to get higher end stuff too, I think it would be a pretty niche market to corner.

Might run into a cash flow problem the other 8 months of the year though..

^^ That's true. And the more I think about it, as much as I'd consider myself an avid camper, I really don't spend much per year on camping gear. Maybe a few hundred dollars.

Where I am getting a lot of my stuff lately is Wholesale Sports. http://www.wholesalesports.com/store/
They have a pretty decent sized camping section, and most of it is good quality.

Figure the collective braintrust here is better than trying to google up some results.

Looking to book three (tent-only, likely) campsites for mid-August. Anyone have any good recommendations (preferably around Banff, but not a necessity) of places that won't be overrun, and will allow for something that'll allow for a little more of a social experience?

Hoping to plan a trip for around 12 people or so.

If you are willing to take a bit of a chance go with the first come first serve camp ground at Castle Mountain or Protection Mountain (not sure if open yet or if it was ruined by the tree removal project.) If you leave calgary noon Friday on a non long weekend you will get spots.

Both are relatively quiet and out of the Banff crazy ness but still close enough if you need beer or something.

Just an FYI in case anybody was planning on heading to Gooseberry this weekend. They are almost full- maybe about 10 decent spots left. Lots of people left a small tent to hold their spot.

And the dump and fill station at the info booth is closed. You have to use the new one just west of Gooseberry.

A couple of deals to bump this thread.

You all know the 40 watt solar panel that we all talk about; and how it's a great deal when it goes on sale for $100? Well the 75 watt big brother of that panel is on for $150. Having a "299" item number it is not a normal stock item, so get one while you can.

Edit- just noticed it does not come with a charge controller. Turns out to be not such a good deal after all.

Also the 4 packs of winterizing antifreeze is on sale for $16. So even if you use a full 2 gallons to winterize, that's only $8 per year.

BUMP-

We're thinking of going camping for a couple days right now, ie/ tomorrow.

We have a trailer, but where to go? Have a 9 month old, so we want to be about 2 hours max from Calgary. What are your favorite spots for mid-week camping with a trailer? PM me if you don't want your secret campsite going public, thanks in advance.
