A number of reasons. The big one was that she would rather rescue one than buy from a breeder. Rescue because "save a dog" type rescue.

I've been a member of this site for a long time and I think "How to get puppies?" is probably the best thread title CP has ever seen.

You know, I may be naive, but even when I typed the title I thought, "There's no way Calgarypuck would go there, would they?" Yes. Yes they would.
Anyways, Cochrane Humane Society. Found a great puppy.
Sam(antha).
Thanks for the info in the thread, hopefully someone else can find puppies too.

That's a great looking dog. Looks as if she will be smart and fun.
Did they give a guesstimate as to what she was?

If you want a dog, go visit a litter of puppies. If you connect with one, and it seems happy and healthy, buy it. It's a puppy, not a political statement.

Thanks. Plott Hound X. Abandoned mother.
Last of 4 pups.
They are a wonderful group and have some other very nice dogs there. Anna is very nice, but requires older children (above 15y.o.). Also guinea pigs, rabbits, and cats/kittens.
Cochrane Humane Society .
(One advantage is that they are closer in driving from the NW than going down to Calgary Humane Society)

Congrats!
I'm so jealous. I miss when my boy was a pup. Enjoy it, they grow up super fast!

My puppy is 7 months old... still a handful.
I didn't realize they don't sleep through the night at first... really regretted the February adoption date during those 3am washroom breaks.

I think I'm missing the humor in the thread title. Someone explain?

Is joke because if you put two dog in bag (doesn't matter what sex, b/c its 2015) and you shake bag, you get puppy.
