I don't think we're quite ready for a 70 story condo. The new Guardian towers are only around 44. Baby steps

Telus Sky, though not purely residential, is 58.

Good article about the history, and future plans for the Barron Building.
However in this market I highly doubt you see the developer (Strategic Group) start swinging hammers. I would suspect the building won't be ready until Q1 2018 or later.

I have never liked when developers build a patio and then use a partition to split it into 2 for 2 different units. As someone who has lived through both, a private patio is extremely under rated!

I counted Brookfield this morning and it is around 9 stories (give or take). Telus, I think they are still digging.

ATCO's plans for a new building at Crowchild/50th are public now. Looks like those currently in offices in the area will be moving into the new building as well as those who work for the Power Generation division. The rest of the Calgary staff will stay at the ATCO Centre buildings on 11th Ave for the foreseeable future.

ATCO is a client of ours. They have a couple of floors for the Logistics people over in Westmount Corporate campus and those people will be moving over as well. I've seen some high better quality renderings of the Commercial Centre and it's not that bad, but ATCO is not the type of organization that is going to go out on a huge limb to with their design.

"Inglewood condo project passes with Carra's blessing, residents' opposition"
http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-...nts-opposition
The building got approved (awesome) but is receiving resistance from the public because it's 2.5m too high than the 20m high limit set out in 1993. This is such a minor, insignificant thing to whine about, it's barely going to dent the sky and there won't be a shadow issue worth fretting about. People are so afraid of new ideas and change sometimes it's weird. I understand that people like their classic looking neighborhood sans skyscrapers, but c'monnnn! It's only 2.5m and won't affect your daily life in the slightest. This is why I hate the general public sometimes.

They complain just because. Winnipeg is notorious for these types of complainers. Builders would just back out every time. Nothing got built. Let's not be a backwards city like they are.
I hope they decide to make it 20 meters over the limit just to spite inglewood residents.

That is awesome! A huge shortage of oversized outdoor living space on inner city condominiums! Castello was a huge hit and holds strong resale value due to such demand!

As an ex-Inglewood resident, this is the kind of thing that was so frustrating about that neighbourhood. That area has so much potential but nothing ever gets done because the residents want to keep that small town feel. I'm amazed that Starbucks got in there. Inglewood at first drive through seems like a cool, interesting place. Get out of your car and look around, and you'll be disappointed that there are nothing but antique shops and organic food outlets. I know there are folks that like those kinds of things, but come on! The neighbourhood doesn't even have a proper supermarket!
As I said, there is so much potential for Inglewood. Maybe in a few years they can move towards it, but the biggest hurdle seems to be the folks that currently occupy it that seem to want to live in an early 1900's small town.

I don't know if this goes here, but a few months back someone posted a link to a map with all the private & public developments underway in the city. Does anyone else remember? can you please point me to it?
Thanks

What happened to the jpold thread?
Anyway,
Cardel has listed their entire building for sale as a vacant. I'd guess they'd be looking for something around $43 million using a 6.5% cap rate on their estimated NOI.
Anyone know where they're moving to once the building sells? Times that tough at Cardel? Or completely unrelated.
