Yes yes yes I know everybody says this. Problem is that a lot of the chicks on the show aren't even that hot to begin with for the most part. But if this NEEDS to be about the bikinis, I'm sure that that's a problem that could be sorted out.

Agreed with Jiri and KG. A way to divide the teams...as long as sterotyping doesn't carry on (ie the asian group wins because they cheesily got to use chopsticks in some event that the others doesn't

), then its much ado about nothing.

And who cares if people cheer for a certain group. Coming from a sports board where people viemently hate and treat like 2nd class citizens, players, teams, and those teams fans based on that they wear Beluga whale's on their jersey, or blue and orange (oops sorry SCH, "Oiler copper") trimmed jerseys....

And agree with fotze. I am sure there will be a couple of contestants who will be outspoken and subsequently villified and punted out at even a hint of intolerance.....a whole bunch of tears as the great divisions in Amercain culture will all be brought together in a harrowing event, and any issues will be smoothed over with them all singing kumbya at the end.

All this while members of the "ethnic" tribes probably turn out to be more "white" then most within the "white" team.

And my idea for Survivor fot he past 6 years has been to have it in the NWT come summer solstice...so there is little chance for sleep with almost 24h of day light.

Usually the tribes are only in teams of 4 for maybe 2 episodes so in a month for now nobody will care.

jk. everyone gets their panties in a knot when it comes to race. yes there are racial differences (before you flame me STFU - if a scientist can look at a skeleton and determine gender, age and race then yes, there clearly are some differences beyond the pigment in your skin). different =/= bad. different =/= worse. diversity is pretty neat in my books.

Would it be cool if your boss decided to split up the company picnic softball teams by race? We've all heard about 'guys against girls'... I guess its ok to do 'whites against blacks' in the same way? Seems a little wierd to me... but I'll watch the show anyway. Bring on the Survivor Pool!

I was going to make a comment about which team will best survive on only rice and fish, but I will steer clear of the minefield.

My question is, if this is as a result of a call for more diversity, why not have 4 teams with equal representatives on each team?

Talk about a social experiment. 4 teams made up of equal parts white, black, latino and asian trying to not only co-exist, but to actively work together towards a common goal.

I guess replicating what already exists is somehow more experimental.

Except that Survivor isn't a team sport. It is an individual competition. There is only one winner.

Ok... but they're dividing them up into 'teams' based on race on the show. They compete as teams for the first half or so of the season.

What exactly is racist about splitting groups based on race, the story broke Wednesday and by Thursday at 9am there are already 4 pages of replies. You know you will watch.

If the challenges are basic an non race-specific (it how to sing a country song etc) it should be pretty funny. Also the contestants should be from similar educational and athletic backgrounds.
