Mom Refuses To Break Into Expensive BMW To Save Toddler Son From Heat
This story is just sad:
"A mom has sparked outrage after she refused to allow firefighters to break into her car to save her toddler son from the heat because the vehicle was too expensive to damage. The unnamed mother was unable to open the door of her BMW when it accidentally locked itself. Her three-year-old son was trapped inside and was suffering in the heat as no windows were open.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene in Yiwu city, China, were about to break the glass to rescue the boy - but his mum told them she wanted to wait for a locksmith instead so the car would not be damaged. Stunned onlookers looked on in horror as the toddler cried inside the vehicle as the oxygen levels rapidly went down."

My guess would be that in a confined space, such as a locked car on a hot day, the amount of Oxygen would be rapidly depleted. It does say that it only takes an hour for the inside of a vehicle to reach 48C, when the temperature outside the vehicle is 20C, so my guess is the child may have had heat stroke.

Its important to note that this happened in China.
I recently watched something about how difficult and expensive it is to be able to get a nice car in China.

A car isn't sealed and the oxygen content of air does not vary significantly in terms of temperature.
Agree with the heat stroke as a possibility. How do you lock your keys in a modern car though. If the keys are in it you just push the button on the door to open it.

We get a ton of Chinese coming to Vancouver and buying their cars here, because it's cheaper to do that and import it into China than buy there local.

It's actually becoming a huge problem as well, that Permanent Residents have been taking out loans on high end cars, a couple months before they plan to go home for good, shipping the cars, and then stiffing the banks. And usually Chinese people have phenomenal credit, so they have no issues getting approved.
One of my bank reps says one dealer had 4 in one month... when they dug into it, it was the same family, same address.
And because their North American credit bureau is completely worthless and unrecognised in China, they don't care, especially if they never plan to come back. And the stupid thing is, the banks just shrug and write them off.... they have no way to enforce it. This isn't just a Chinese thing though. A lot go to the middle east.
Also another interesting 'industry stat' I heard, is it is believed, up to 30% of the cars in Russia are black market vehicles, that have been stolen out of North America, and if your car is 'professionally' stolen... (ie, not a joy ride... it just vanishes.) the odds of it going to Russia are close to 50%. It is almost impossible for the stats to be properly verified though, because the whole system is so incredibly corrupt in there.
