Default Axe Music - DRUMS!

***can't seem to change the thread title***

JUNE 05 2016:

Just updating the thread. I have a Pearl Reference Pure (4-piece shell pack, walnut, virgin kick drum) that normally retails for $3899.00 currently on sale for $2457.32.

Please PM me if you're interested. Or call Axe (403-243-5200) and ask for Trad.

---------------------

Hey everyone,

I am now working at Axe Music here in Calgary. If you are planning on any musical purchases or simply have questions feel free to ask me here, via PM, or visit me in the store.

For the record, Axe Music will not only price match any retail competitor online or brick and mortar store within 30-days of your purchase, we will refund you 25% of the difference as our way of saying thank you for sharing a price we could and should of been better on. Moreover, we will handle any warranty work in our store, as opposed to you having to ship your product to God-knows-where like the competition would have you do.

Hope to do some business with CPers! Thanks everyone!

I ordered a guitar 6 months ago and was told it would be 2 months. 4 months ago I was told it would be 1 month. Now I am doubting it will ever arive. My friend ordered one and it hasn't arrived for more than a year.

Axe music is great. In high school I worked there as part of the work experience program, and had an absolute blast.

Unless things have changed (this was years ago) they have a really great staff and hire really passionate, knowledgeable musicians for every position, right down to the shippers/receivers.

Good to know. I've purchased some of the mics and such for the podcast from there, and have always had good service.

Please keep us updated with any new clinics information - I love watching highly-skilled musicians perform who really know their crafts (not your typical Taylor Swift & Justin Bieber who can just play a few chords.......)

Is the backlog for guitar repair still 6-8 weeks? I need a setup done on one of my basses and Axe is super close to work.

What strings do you recommend for my SG Guitar Kit?

For my reference:

Where can I get more presets for a Vox VT 15 amp?

Great! What department are you working in? Keep us abreast of any promotions or cool news or CP discounts you could offer.

I generally split my business between AXE and L&M, depending on pricing/availability.

What's the AXE warranty? I bought a Square Mustang Bass from AXE about a 1-1.5 years ago and it's cracking around the base of the neck around the pocket just from a few sessions of normal play! I put it in the basement and don't play it because of issues like that and just remembered.

Also to confirm about the price matching, I've often ordered from LAMusic.ca recently, as their prices are usually ~$100 bucks cheaper than local and they offer free shipping on orders over $99.

Do you match/beat against them as well?

Does AXE carry DR Neon strings?

Will you spit all over any midi keyboards or studio monitors I buy from you?

I will actually be in the market for some guitar recording equipment though so I appreciate this post.

I like D'Addario coated on my Les Paul personally. I'm pretty lazy about changing strings so I only do it about once a year. Coated strings seem to hold up to longer periods of play then uncoated in my experience.

Glad to know! I've been a big spender there the last couple years (probably too much) for DJ gear and speakers and it's good to know a fellow CP'er will be working there. I will definitely be messaging you in the future!

I used to love hanging out at Axe, when it was on Blackfoot Trail. Just go there, pick a keyboard or guitar and play for hours. I remember how one of the Pink Floyd backup guitarists stopped by there back in 1993 (?) or so and everyone gathered around him as he was Pope himself. LOL . Did not go there once since they moved to their Macleod Tr location for some reason. Long & McQuaid has been my store for a long time now...

I bought a Korg SDD-3000 there about a month ago and it appears like the feedback knob no longer does anything. I've had basically zero success contacting Korg about it and they seem to imply I should be contacting my dealer -- that is, you. Advice?

Thanks!

Yeah man, contact me asap.

polak:

I work in the keyboard/midi/recording department. I actually write electronic music, but can't resist busting your chops.

troutman:

I'll get the guitar guys on it and PM you ASAP.

AcGold:

Waiting on your PM.

jaydorn:

I know some people who change their strings every four days...

Psychnet:

Two weeks right now on a bass setup. I have to wait for the owner to return to follow up on your other pricing question.
