Stars D is Oiler bad going into next season. They have to have something else they are working on.

One of the few trades I can think of that could be a lose/lose.

Dallas gets a player they didn't need and weakens their D

Chicago doesn't get near enough in the trade.

Perplexing

There is a way for Dallas to come out of this smelling like a rose though.

Boy, with some of the stuff I've read about Sharp this summer (not just on CP) you'd think the guy was pushing 42. He's 33. He had 43 pts in 68 games last season....and 78 pts the season before. He's nowhere close to ''just about done''. I can only hope some our our guys have ''just about done'' seasons. He won 3 cups with them. It most certainly is a pretty big loss for them. But one that was necessary.

Chicago is probably getting tired of stocking the league with talent.

Watching him play you can see he's lost a step though, I suppose it could have been a nagging injury.

With the pace of the game these days you will see a lot of guys starting to run out of gas in their early 30's...

I like this deal for the Hawks because of Garbutt I could see him playing his game to peak there he's got sandpaper with some offense to boot

Actually really like this deal for the Hawks

I like this deal for Dallas for sure. I mean Sharp is getting long in the tooth but he is a Stanley Cup winner and he can still play.

Daley was ..pretty meh to me.

goaltending a huge question mark as well

their forwards weren't the reason why they missed the playoffs

Oduya waited around waiting for the Hawks and now they have no cap space do they?

The Hawks would probably need to unload Bickell as well before they could entertain bringing Oduya back.

WTF???

Daley has 756 NHL games played, 231 total points and is coming off a career high season of 16G, 22A in 68 games played last year.

Johns meanwhile has 67 total AHL games played (including playoffs), with 8G and 25A.

How can you say Johns is better than Daley?

Sharp is a defensively responsible forward though that can play in their top 6.

Hawks losing both Saad and Sharp in the offseason is likely going to put a dent in their offense but Daley IMO is a good fit for their style of transition game. Fairly decent trade for both teams but the Stars look pretty weak on defense.

Rob Vollman ‏@robvollmanNHL
Trevor Daley had some of the worst possession numbers in the entire league this past year.

Johns is going to be a massive stud on the back end. Total steal by Dallas. Wow!
