The Drury, Bouwmeester, and Hamilton deals are right up there.

I was so excited when the Dougie Hamilton trade was announced.
It wasn't just the trade either, but the fact that nobody knew what was going back to Boston for what felt like hours. I couldn't handle it, I was so afraid it would involve Bennett.

Pretty short list of winning trades vs the disasters especially in the last 20 years. Dougie Hamilton trade, as it has been a long time since I felt that much excitement.

Jokinen was probably the biggest but I remember also being disappointed since I was a big Lombardi fan (he is my CP Namesake).
Was excited for the first Cammy trade when he came from L.A. since I was a fan of his.
Tanguay from Colorado is another one. Guy was only a couple years removed from scoring the cup winning goal, and having a huge game 7 for the Avs. Was a PPG playmaker that we could pair with Iginla to make the team dynamic.
The biggest one for me probably is Hamilton though. Added a 22 year old top pairing d-man, and we didn't have to give up anything off the roster. Still stunned by that.

That first game against Philly was crazy. The Flames scored early and often. Looked like they were the best line in hockey.

I remember sitting in my car listening to Peter Maher on the radio and missing out on my class at SAIT because I was way to into the game. I thought when Jokinen put up his 5pts that game, that we were on our way to the cup. Finally the team had the #1C it coveted for so long.
I was excited about the Drury trade also. Couldn't believe Calgary got a Calder winner. I was pretty pumped about the Fuhr trade also.
In hindsight the Kipper trade should go down as #1 overall. But at the time it wasn't well received. I clearly remember a Dowbiggen article the next day saying how the Flames wasted a 2nd round pick on a 3rd string goalie who had no place in the NHL. Wish I could find that article. Dowboy is still eating crow to this day.

All of the 2004 trades were super exciting even though they weren't that big.
It was just fun to see the Flames gear up for the playoffs for the first time in 9 years.

I remember that article too. Dowbiggen wrote stuff like, "We traded a 2nd round pick for THE Miikka Kiprusoff? THE Miikka Kiprusoff who had a 3.25 GAA last year. THE Miikka Kiprusoff who had a 5-14 record last year."
I wonder how he felt a few months later when Kipper broke the GAA record and led the Flames to the playoffs.

I was too young to appreciate the trades in the 80s that turned the Flames into Cup champs, but there are some real beauts there.
For me, I was probably most excited when they traded for Jay Bouwmeester. I just remember sitting there absolutely astonished that the Flames were the team that nabbed his rights.
Second would probably be Tanguay. Again, just couldn't believe the Flames grabbed such a player just entering his prime.
Jokinen would be a close third. Just like the rest of you I thought for sure, finally, Calgary has landed that legitimate #1 center for Iginla.

Probably felt the same after he mocked the ridiculous signing of Daryl Sutter to coach LA followed by his winning the cup

For me it was the Mullen trade, everything around that deal was memorable.
Flames had just come back and tied the Oilers and I was in the car with my dad listening to the post game show when they went live to an announcement. Fletcher (GM) goes through the trade but does it in a way that almost make me sick. Says Cavallini, Bourgeois and Beers (oh no!) for Terry Johnson, Rik Wilson (I'm thinking what?) and Joey Mullen.
Then the next game at the Dome when Mullen was impactful from the first shift. Was amazing to add a player of that caliber to a team that was already emerging.
Beers gets hurt and makes it a landslide win for the Flames.

The Mullen trade was a turning point for the franchise. With apologies to Lanny, the first pure goal scorer in team history. Automatic 40 goals/season. Like clockwork. Could make an opportunity out of nothing. Not dynamic necessarily, but took on goalscoring as his job and just did it. An all time great.

To be fair, who actually predicted that Kipper would turn out even close to how he did?

I was really excited for the Brad Stuart trade. Thought he would be a big upgrade over Ference on the ice and I hated Chuck.
Wasn't so exited a few months later after seeing results.
The happiest I have even been was when Bouwmeester got trade off the team. I still contend he is one of the worst players I have ever witnessed based on his skillset.

Yeah, the 2009 trade deadline where all the pundits declared the Flames "the deadline day winners!" by acquiring Jokinen and Leopold.
Was an exciting time. Had a huge lead in the division, Iggy, Cammalleri, Phaneuf, regehr, Kipper all in their primes, who was gonna stop us now?
Goddamn injuries, that's who...

2 biggest for me were Hamilton and Tanguay... could not believe we pulled those 2 off
Other ones that stuck out to me : Getting Olli (round 1), Bouwmeester, and Cammalleri
I also was really impressed we got Brad Stuart too, even though that turned out to be a massive fail.

The most exciting at the time of the trade were Lanny and Tonelli. Big news right from the announcement. The Mullen and Gilmour acquisitions weren't as heralded but way more impactful.
