He didn't look great until the scrimmages last year either, but he brings it for the games.

I liked his positioning, his work in front of the net, and his poise with the puck. He made some clear mistakes - one a dumb penalty he knows he shouldn't be making and the other a turnover right behind the net that felt Justin Schultz-ey - but hey those are mistakes, not inadequacies. Cut his minutes and usage down to bottom pairing, and you've still got yourself a servicable bottom pairing D already at 20 years old.

Obviously you want these guys developing in the AHL getting big minutes where when they're playing in the NHL they're transitioning seemlessly. But just because one played in the ECHL and the other got cut by a skate doesn't mean they'd embarass themselves in the NHL. They're better players then Oilers' Klefbom.

Also not Hunter Smith in the photo I don't think. Looks way too short!

That's definitely Smith. He looks a couple inches taller than McDonald, who is 6'4".

Second from the left looks like Marcotte...

The guy at the far left isn't Hickey. Hickey has a full playoff beard going like Smith's.

It's Proulx I think

I think topfiverecords is correct that the guy between Smith and Bennett is Myers. He's 6'5", so that might be another reason Smith doesn't look as much like a giant.

Speaking of giants, after watching the video from today's session, it looks like Riley Bruce might be even taller than the 6'6" he's listed at. He looks like he could be Hamilton's younger, taller brother.

Just going to echo what has already been said but a big thank you to everyone that has taken the time to go the on ice sessions and to post updates and comments. For those of us that cannot make these sessions these posts are a great insight.
