I watched it on the weekend, and was pretty entertained.

Spoiler!

I did go in with no expectations, only to expect some cheesy lines and a lot of stuff blowing up . I left happy.

It felt like the first three Terminators combined into one, with a dash of new. I though it was a rather refreshing reboot.

And for what it's worth, Emilia Clarke is amazing. I liked her in the role, and watching her the whole time certainly added to my enjoyment. (insert innuendo here)

No. I'll do it in a few years when the hype dies down

Linda Hamilton should have been involved in this one, in more of a cameo than anything. This one should have focused around Kyle Reese or something. I don't know, it just seems like a horrible script. I haven't see it though.

I've been keeping away from trailers lately so I didn't know that going in and I think it definitely impacted my viewing of the movie.

The new lenses they shoot movies with makes everything look like a soap opera. Hobbit is the first one I remember but now so many movies have lost the cinematic feel, the trailer for Genesys is no better, looks like soap opera made for TV quality.

It's not the lenses. Some directors have started shooting their films at 48 fps instead of the standard 24 fps. I agree, it looks like #### though.

Count me in with that. It's like watching a Blue Ray movie on my old Toshiba tube TV. Looks just awful.

It's funny that we associate a higher framerate with low quality. This is because most soap operas were filmed on video rather than film. Video runs at 30 frames a second which gets doubled for 60Hz TVs. Hence you get the soap opera effect. The same applies to all the motion smoothing and enhancement settings on a lot of LCD/LED TVs these days.

Film is usually 24 FPS and we associate that slower framerate with a more steady, dream-like quality that for some reason is perceived to be higher quality.

I saw it last night. I had low expectations because of how many people crapped all over it online.

I enjoyed it. I really liked Clark as a younger Hamilton. They even bear a resemblance. It certainly wasnt' as good as T-1 or T-2, but it was enjoyable.

I also did not know the John Connor twist so that helped as well.

The short scene post credits was predictable though.

Sorry about that. I had assumed that since the trailer was out, it wasn't necessary for me to spoiler . My bad.

That being said, it is still worth a watch.

You misunderstand me. I've already seen the movie but I hadn't seen the trailer before hand and didn't know in advance that Connor was the villain. Had I known that going into the movie I probably would have left with a different impression of the film.

I assumed that since the trailer showed that plot twist, I didn't think spoiler tagging my comment was necessary, as I assumed everybody was aware of it. Regardless, I hate ruining movies for anybody, so I'll apologize once more.

I think I need more self control when it comes to trailers. And some spoilers in general. I just have to know!

Went and saw it tonight. Loved the original Terminator movies but was trying to temper my expectations for this one. Suffice to say I really enjoyed it! Thought it was a really well done reboot, much better than a lot of other reboots going on nowadays. I enjoyed the new Sarah, thought she was casted well enough

More to see if thought the actress was as bad in GoT.

Saw it last week. Not the classic that T1 and T2 were, but extremely enjoyable. The mash up of characters from first two movies was pretty cool and Arnie playing the aging Terminator was fairly well done. Certainly better than anything he has done in the last few years.

The Terminators in the first two movies came across as ominous and unstoppable. It would be difficult to replicate that feeling in subsequent movies so I expect a different vibe to them.

For what its worth, my kids aged 10 and 12 loved the movie. Moreso than Jurassic World, which the 10 year old found a little scary. I know that may not be the greatest advertsiement for many in here, who are hoping for a more adult experience. My kids have not seen the first two movies yet and will wait until they are older.

I do agree that it is time to take the movies in a different direction. Enough of Sarah and John Connor.

Finally watched Terminator Genisys, and would probably place it third on the list of Terminator movies, which is definitely watchable. I appreciated that it was a continuation rather that a straight reboot, although they did take the Abrams loophole (to better effect).

The story was servicable, the paradoxes hopefully intentional (as they seems to want to make one or possibly two sequels), and nothing was too jarring. I would have made the terminators themselves more powerful, but it didn't overly impact the enjoyment of the movie. It was a Terminator movie, so I wasn't expecting Hamlet.

Emilia Clarke was good as Sarah Connor. Remember that she's playing a particularly messed up 20 year old, so misplaced bravado is fine.

Jai Courtney was wooden.
Jason Clarke was reprocessed wood product.

Arnie was born into this role.

I actually preferred Salvation over this one. I could suspend my disbelief in that one. I simply cannot buy Jason Clarke as John Connor and Jai Courtney put in 10% the performance of Michael Biehn and has less charisma than a Terminator. He looks like he belongs in a Fast & Furious movie, not this one. This movie was ruined by terrible casting (honorable mention: recasting of Miles Dyson also failed miserably). The plot is pretty much nonsensical. If you had the ability to stop the end of the world from happening, would you travel to the point right before it happened, giving you a very limited amount of time to actually stop it?

Why does Hollywood allow such boneheaded casting to happen? Watch Terminator 1 & 2 right before you see this one and you'll realize how bad it is. Some of the sequences (most of 1984, etc.) are redeemable but not the casting.

I haven't seen this yet, but where does Clarke come from? In the few things I've seen him in he's been pretty 'meh' at best. He was probably the weakest part of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. How is he landing John Connor?
