Brutal call, there was no push. NOt that it matters the way the Stamps are playing.

It's been a problem with Stampeders to take it easy on rookie QB at the beginning of the game then it hit them in the 2nd half and they play better. Sometimes they bounced back but others they lost the game. We barely see a pressure to the QB tonight..not even from the Sackmaster.

Oh boy, that was an abysmal end to a decent drive.

Brutal 1st half. All 3 sides are just plain terrible.

Offense : OLine can't block a fly therfore both Bo and Cornish can't make the play. When Bo Levi gets a chance to throw Cunningham can't catch it or Mitchell just under or even overthrow the ball. Man we missed Bryant and Jones big time.

Defense : No pressure on the rookie QB at all. It is either Als OLine is outplaying the Stamps DLine or Stubler's defense is just not doing their job. MLB Glenn Love looks weak and lost. Huf should move Deron Mayo in the middle and use Simmons on his place.

Special Team : Problem is way too many penalties. Thanks to Rob Maver, our punter Montreal did not score a couple of TD. He prevented 2 Special Team tonight.

Penalties : Stay away from it.

Unfreakinbelievable!!! Defense looks worse so far in the 2nd than the 1st. I still don't get why Stubler's defense is giving Cato a lot of time to throw the ball. It is like he's relying on the DBs to make the plays.

stamps are just getting shredded on D. Sutton and Cato have both looked very good and the Als oline is creating time and nice lanes. Just a lackluster passionless effort by the Stamps. Still time left to right this ship...gotta score major this drive.

What is up with the freaking DB getting objectionable conduct the past two games? Stop trash-talking and just focus on the game. Instead of going for 2nd and 10 they ended up with 2nd and 20. Stupid penalties.

Yeah. Very uncharacteristic of a Hufnagel team. Seem a little more undisciplined this year. Shut your cake hole when you're on the sideline and the O is driving.

It is definitely a PI. DB held McDaniel's hand and impeded him from catching the ball.

They pressured Cato on a first down and did not connect. On 2nd down no pressure and connected. Do we see any pattern here?

Rakeem who?

Not sure if the Stamps needed a kick in the arse in week 2 but it looks like they just got one. Offensive line might need some time to get in sync -- the talent is there but the execution is lacking it seems...

Where to start??? WOW... didn't expect to see the GC MVP get badly outplayed by a 4th string rookie QB.

Mitchell was just flat out awful again tonight. He needs to stop missing open receivers. Aside from about a handful of throws there was NOTHING to like about his game. Huf needs to seriously consider putting Tate in sooner in games going forward. I get that he's not getting the protection he needs, but overthrowing open receivers and/or locking into receivers are issues that he needs to get sorted out and fast. I don't know what the solution is here but he better get it figured out or Huf and DD may have little choice but to turn to Tate.

Oline? This is where I'm most worried about this team going forward. Two games in a row of shoddy protection, hardly any holes opened up for Cornish, allowing defenders to bee-line their way to Mitchell. They hopefully will improve their chemistry as the season progresses, but the drop off in performance from last year's Oline to this year's isn't just noticeable - it's enormous. Even at their best I can't see this unit getting anywhere close to what last year's unit was.

Dline? After an excellent game against Hamilton they followed it up with an embarrassing outing tonight; got completely manhandled by Montreal's Oline all night long. The loss of Hughes was very noticeable, and one can only hope that he's not gone for long.

Receivers? More dropped passes, running routes short of first down yardage, just an overall lack of compete and urgency.

STs? El Matado-matic misses a makeable kick to put a cherry on top of what was a nightmare first half for the team. Tim Brown continues to have butterfingers. I'm not worried about the kicking game going forward but Brown needs to quit putting balls on the turf.

Penalties? Oh lawd, it has to stop. It just HAS to stop. Maybe a clip of Kavis Reed's "consequences" rant would fit nicely here.

No, this isn't a game where the tape should be burned. If anything it should be burned into the minds of the players. I don't want to hear the "it's just one game" thing because in all honesty we saw most of these same problems last week except for the fact that the defense and Rene bailed the team out in that one. The offense continues to be hot garbage play in and play out, series in and series out, and now has looked consistently bad for two full games. It's worrying, and I DO have good reason for saying that.

At least when the problem is with scheming or play calls it is a problem that can be corrected relatively easily, but when the personnel isn't performing well it may be a talent issue and therefore may be a sign that the team just isn't nearly as good as we thought they were. Hopefully we see Simpson and Hughes back sooner than later as the defense looks completely lost without them.

What a dissapointing lost. The thing that really ticked me off is how sloppy and it feels like Stamps defense especially doesn't look like they are hungry enough. They are playing a rookie QB so you figured the DLine should be hungry to go after the QB but instead they let him throw the ball and let the DBs outplayed the receivers. I didn't think Calgary a sack at all. I just don't get it. I know Als OLine played well but i hardly seen any push at all. We definitely missed Simpson as his replacement Glenn Love got beat by Sutton a lot of times. I always like Love but he was just brutal. Charleston Hughes was not a factor at all then the DLine got bad when he left the game. Bishop played well in the first game but he's the opposite tonight. It just feels like Stamps defense took Als offense lightly early on then could not recover in the 2nd half.
What about the offense? OLine was terrible. They could not block anyone so it means Mitchell has to force the throw a lot of times and Cornish just could not find the hole. Cunningham was useless on offense. In the first half, he could have caught the ball and Stamps would have gotten the first down. Then there's another play where Mitchell overthrew the ball because Cunningham slowed down a bit. I think Campeau was only consistent receiver especially in the first half but he did not see the ball much in the 2nd half. Marquay McDaniel played well and was definitely a big factor in the 2nd half. Joe West and Eric Rogers were okay.
Special team looks lost. The worst game by our coverage team so far. Twice Logan beat them and almost scored. Only reason he didn't was because of our punter Rob Maver prevented him from scoring by trying to tackle him. It is terrible when the coverage team rely on the punter to make the tackle. Return team is meh. Tim Brown does not look like the slick Tim Brown who used to play in BC. If he doesn't produce in the next few games, I would rather see the Stamps activate Greg Wilson. He is a good receiver and a returner also.
Penalties are just killing the Stamps in the last two games. We were the least penalized team in the CFL last season so how come they are getting tons of boneheaded penalties. The Buddy Jackson objectionable penalty late in the first game was called by overzealous referee so you figured the Stamps learned from it. They got another objectionable penalty on the sideline again with Brandon Smith talking smack on Als DB. At that time Stamps offense are moving the ball really well. They ended up geting the 1st down and 20 and went short. They are also a few penalties that stopped the Stamps offense from getting the first down and continued the series.
Two games so far and Stamps played bad. First game they were lucky they got the win, second game opponents rookie QB played like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady. Success from last season getting into their head? Anyways I expect to see a different Stampeders next game and more. Hufnagel and the coaching staff must not be happy with the way they are playing early in the season.

What a train wreck that game was. That has to be the overall poorest effort since Huff took over the team as they had nothing all game. A team has to be really, really bad to get shut out in a half of CFL football but they didn't even get a sniff of a scoring drive until the last minute of the half and they still managed to botch an open receiver in the end zone and blown FG kick. Huff may need to remind these guys that they won't be handed the Grey Cup just because they won it last year as that was just an awful effort from everyone except maybe Maver.
