He'll probably end up regretting that hometown discount he took on his previous deal.

I don't think I've ever said this before but Go Leafs!

Wish Glenny a ton of success in the future.

I could see Glencross having a bounce-back year. I was in favour of the Flames re-signing him (although in hindsight we ended up with Dougie Hamilton so I can't complain).

You're math is way off. He had 66 goals, not 90 goals during his last contract. Even if you double his goals from the lockout season (unlikely in reality) you are still sitting at 80. His first two seasons of his contract were good and you could definitely say he was underpaid for that portion but his last two season were poor. Injuries and lack of heart at the end.

Yes we shouldn't kick him on his way out, but let's not pretend losing Glencross was a big loss. It was addition by subtraction as well as a huge help in getting Hamilton. I definitely don't miss his 3rd period penalties.

Anyways hope he bounces back for an eastern team..

I always liked Glencross and he was an excellent Flame when he was a complimentary player. As much as I liked him I wasn't sad to see him go, the time was right and the team is going in a different direction. Still think he has some good hockey in him given the right situation. Part of me wants to see him go to Chicago on the cheap for a one year deal. He could flourish there.

I maintain what I said when I heard the rumours a few years back. He'd be an excellent fit in Chicago. If I were them, I'd be all over Glencross. He could score 15-20 in a third line role there.

Underrated offensive depth player when he stays healthy.

I still say there are two places he possibly ends up, Arizona or Nashville. I liked Glencross when he was not taking really dumb penalties but lets be honest here, he cares more about what the city is about and location than winning. In Arizona he can chill with Shane Doan and they can focus on their horses. In Nashville it is perfect for a guy who is all about rodeo. I could possibly see him in Dallas I guess too. I am betting on one of those 3.

Glencross maybe goes to NSH for 2.25 per 2 years.

I think Pittsburgh for cheap. He can generate offense of the third line with Sutter if he doesn't find a place in the top 6. Good PKer and a great shot. It's a pretty nice fit as a weak side winger for a RH centre.

He wasn't terrible in Calgary. His possession was strong, but he was snakebit. He was frustrated, and lashed out, thinking that the reason was poor line mates and lack of playing time. For a guy who has played first line minutes at times, 12-14 min/gm can be frustrating. Up until his injury, I think he was on a 45-50point pace.

The next Setoguchi I assume. Been alongtime since Glencross has done anything. Was looking for 5 million bucks a season last year and will be lucky to get a contract now. Someone will take the chance. At maybe 1.5 million for one year.

Based off performance though? He could be done!

People are upset fans are hard on him. Told the team he would not take a hometown discount this time around after a bad season. Wanted a big contract, long term, last season.

I like Glencross. All that he did. Thank him for waving his no trade clause too.

Can he find work? Depends on what player shows up! Hard gritty winger that can skate, or the vet that thinks he is owed money?

Guy would do well going to Arizona or Buffalo cheap. Maybe he will get a Mason Raymond contract a year later.

He is a good value signing, and somebody is going to get lucky.

He made some impulsive choices, perhaps agent influenced, but he was confident in his game, and he didn't see a future here when he wasn't offerred, or wasn't interested in a contract extension here.

I mentioned the "grass isn't always greener" thing earlier in this thread.

BUT, who would have guessed that NHL GMs would get smart all at the same time in one summer and decided not to spend money impulsively and reactively?!?

Definately not Glencross and his agent, and definately not me.

I could still see him getting 3yr/10M.

I think what a lot of fans are missing is here is the hindsight is 20/20 and different teams, coaches and management react differently to different players.

When Glencross signed his deal he was a steal at $2.5 mil and provided some grit, scoring and veteran leadership for a low contract. His last few years weren't great production wise in Calgary but that doesn't mean he wasn't worthwhile and valuable to the team.

Remember Calgary Pucks favorite whipping boy Matt Stajan? Everybody wanted this guy railroaded out of Calgary with his $3.5 mil contract and lack of production under Sutter. Now with a $3 mil contract and under coach Hartley all of a sudden he is a proven vet, helping out the young kids and chipping in where he can. As far as I am concerned players don't change as much as we fans think sometimes. They stay the same, just different matters lead to different opinions.

Just my $.02

Wow, clueless much? Well, I will entertain you and bite.

He was considered one of the best bang for the buck contracts in the league for some years, took a big discount. Once his play fell through we got two picks for him, enabling us to get Hamilton.

Was he awesome, nah, but he was a good, solid, cheap player who lost his touch/confidence while given a new role - and traded at the right time while WAIVING HIS NTC.

Considering we GAVE UP NOTHING except cash for him we had a few years of a 20 goalscorer for 2.5 mil who then got us a 2nd and a 3rd rounder. Played PK, was considered a role model by the youngsters (many stories on this) and the list goes on.

That is a fantastic result. If you don't understand that, and instead focusing on a few months where he could'nt score and was frustrated, then go ahead. I'll just say thanks Glencross, loved Scoreface and when he was on he was on. Thanks for the picks, the low cap hit when necessary and best of luck somewhere else (except EDM and VAN ofc).

Maybe he has decided to go back to Edmonton and is waiting until after Stampede to sign so that he doesn't get booed during the chuckwagon races.

My guess is that he ends up in Edmonton or Winnipeg on a one or two year deal.

Edmonton might not even want him.

They are stupid, after all.

I would be surprised if anyone signs him to more than 2 years. Glencross has proven he lacks the consistency for any team to do that. I predict 2yr/4M.

He is still a servicable 3rd liner. The trade to Washington killed his chances of being signed on July 1st. He was beyond horrid and was called out by the coach. Washington gave up a 2nd and a 3rd for a reason. Unfortunatly he did not deliver. I think he signs a 2 year contract for about the same money he was making last year. Thats a far cry for what he was hoping for.
