You know the bandwagon is starting to get strong for the flames when you play NHL 15 and literally have the teams you verse pick Calgary

Default Flames top free agent destination

This all should have happened 5-6 years ago if Sutter hadn't been so dumb trying to find some one to play with Iggy all the time and had paid more attention on building a TEAM. Feaster should be given more credit for heading the Flames in that direction and Treliving is doing a good job as well.

Great to hear, and really not all that surprising. The Flames management and coaching staff have done a spectacular job. Players want to be part of a stable, winning program.

We've heard comments from a few players about the C of Red and the passion of the fans as well, so we can also give ourselves a pat on the back

I think all the talk of Calgary not being a FA destination was hogwash anyways. Calgary is consistently ranked among the top cities in the world. There is a ton of cash floating around. Great for families. Relatively safe place. The media is welcoming and fair with the players. Sunny in the summers, mild in the winters. Mountains close by, etc.

It had more to do with the team not winning and not appearing to have a direction. No different then a big company that has a bad reputation. Would you want to work at a company that had poor leadership and was kind of in limbo in the direction it was heading?

Win some games, make the playoffs, and sell to those around you that this is a team on the upswing and suddenly people want to play here. It's not a ''Calgary'' thing. People like to be involved in organization that are stable and have direction. Every team goes through cycles like this.

“It was impressive what the guys did last year. I think it just can get better,” Frolik said of the Flames, on Sportsnet 960. “The team is heading in the right direction, and I get a great feeling with the coach too. And you look at the city. I have heard great things about it, for your family.”
Hartley deserves a lot of recognition too I think, every player on the team last year couldn't say enough good things about him and that has to play well around the league

It could also be a willingness to use capspace that most top teams are lacking at the minute.

Either their right about not talking hockey, or its the fact I live in Victoria and hockey no longer exists because if the Canucks aren't contenders the "fans" dissappear!

By the way I continued to talk hockey anyway! Lol
Ever seen a grown man cry over a trade? I got together with one of my retired navy buddies who is my former boss and die hard canucks fan. First thing he says to me is " you hear about the Bieksa deal?!" Then says "don't worry, Kassian will tune up Ferland for him". Later, I watched him cry a little.

Its times like this that I love living in Victoria.

Having a Jack Adams winning coach and a never say die attitude probably looks pretty appealing to players. I just cannot believe that the Oilers have been rebuilding for 5 years (starting from their 1st #1 pick, I know that's probably giving them too much credit) and we fully accepted a rebuild about a year and a half ago (Iggy, JBo trades) and we already have won a playoff round and now look like a legit Western Conference threat while the Oilers continue to massively overpay for free agents and will be lucky if they aren't a bottom 10 team next year.

Players all know the experience of playing under a coach they cannot stand or a coach that they do not respect.

Hartley winning the Jack Adams is a boon to our organization in many ways to keep giving. It gives us instantly good reputation. Same thing with the shout-outs to Gio (thanks Hudler), etc.

Seeing the management led by Treliving and Burke also adds more credibility to the group.

The last 5 years of winter here have been very mild. Extraordinarily so, especially this past one.
