Coyotes sign Vermette to 2 year deal ($3.75mil AAV)
Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
Antoine Vermette signe un contrat de deux ans avec les Coyotes.
Was widely speculated he would come back after getting his ring.

Not surprised at all. Seemed to enjoy playing in Arizona, and now he can comfortably play out his days having won the big prize.
Weird how the Coyotes seem to keep coming back to former players. Langkow, Michalek (x2), Vermette, I'm probably missing some.
Edit: Vrbata too

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Vermette headed back to ARI on a 2 year deal. It's believed to be an AAV of $3.75M.

Wasn't there rumors he wanted like 6 million a season?

It's a great place to retire.

Win, win deal here I guess.
Vermette helps the Hawks win another Cup.
Coyotes get Dahlbeck, Merkley and then get Vermette back on a really fair deal.

This is the first player to be 'Tkachuked' in a while, I think? Depending on how his play is, they might be able to send him out again for a 1st or a 2nd at 2016 or 2017 deadline.

I believe that was what was reported before the trade deadline.
I think his actual play in the playoffs showed he wasn't nearly worth that much.

You likely see Shane Doan do something similar next year.
Traded at deadline to cup contender then comes back to Arizona.

Do they plan on this sort of thing before the trade even happens or did they just get back in touch and go "we miss you, come back!"

So what did Arizona got when they traded Vermette late last season? What a freebie for them.

Dhalbeck and Merkley.
Also re-signed Michalek who they traded for Maxim Letunov.

Basically Merkely for free. Not too bad.

I think both Vermette and Franson regret getting traded at the deadline.
Their poor performance on new teams has potentially cost them millions.

Vermette fulfilled a dream and won the Stanley Cup, so I doubt he regrets it.
