NO!

Bennett is a centre.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Flames had to give an extra year and pay a bit more to land Frolik. Hot commodity.

Agree on Byron/Ferland. But there are gonna be some decent forwards on the bench. I don't see it being Jones. And I think Colborne is settled in now.

Martin Hanzal would look damn good on that line. Excellent FO guy, adequate defensive ability, huge body to go to the front of the net to screen so Hudler can rip one past the goalie.

That's the team we're trying to beat and he wasn't very effective against them last year. I would love if Frolik proves me wrong and turns out to be our Justin Williams. I'm just not banking on it.

And considering a great possession players in Jooris got pushed out of the lineup for Bollig/Raymond, I wouldn't bank on it.

Where's the fine line between knee-jerk and addressing a need? Most people would agree that the Flames needed another top 6 RWer (though ideally RH), some more size, continuing to build on speed as well as a player who would fit into the age bracket and culture if they would pick up a UFA.

The difference between Jooris and Frolik is the natural fact of Frolik being better than any of those 3 players, plus Jooris fighting through a wrist injury for most of the latter part of last season.

It's pretty short sighted looking at one series as an indication of what will come to be for what the player brings to the team. Gaudreau only managed 2 goals an 1 assist, Monahan was only at 1 goal. Anaheim is a very good team and the additions including Frolik will only give the opportunity for any one player to help contribute.

No Moon was just straight up negative in an unrelenting fashion.

This guy seems like a rival fan trolling. I remember a while back he didn't know some very basic info about Gaudreau, who he fashioned his username after. Lots of red flags going back a long way.

Jets/Hawks fans have this pegged as a fair deal for both sides, which is usually a pretty good sign. Maybe one year too long, but that's what happens with coveted UFAs. From what I can tell this guy ticks all the boxes that the Flames were looking to address, so would not surprise me if Frolik was on Treliving's radar for a while.

Josh Jooris is a good possession player who was a streaky rookie. He would play great then disappear and play poorly.

It's another great addition for the Flames because once again it's a player that checks off so many needs for this team.

Playing the wing sporadically as a rookie wouldn't mean he's not a centre. Tyler Seguin played his first 3 seasons on the wing for the Bruins.

I still think you look at how Monahan was developed, and you do exactly that. 3rd line centre, 2nd pp minutes, sheltered minutes. Let him grow at his natural position.

Sure, that could work too but Bennett isn't going to be ruined playing the wing for a year.

Think Bennett might be LW to start the season, but will soon be moved to C as things shake out.

Don't understand the excitement, he's slightly better version of David Jones or Lance Bouma. Locked for 5yrs with large salary.

Can't think of Michael Frolik without humming a few bars of 'Frolik Navidad' from the iBlackhawks Christmas video: http://tinyurl.com/nb7tpmc

Horrible player comparisons stylistically. Not even close.

Rob Vollman @robvollmanNHL
No need to be alarmed by $4.3M/yr for Frolik. A UFA premium, sure, but I was expecting a lot worse.

And this is what drives me crazy about people and advanced stats. Look I like Jooris, I think he's all heart, but if he's in the lineup merely to drive a stat then you're missing the point. In the case of Bollig he was very good in the playoffs. Jooris is a streaky player and nothing more then a at best depth 4th line guy. He doesn't have the consistency in his game to match his effort.

Still it's pretty much perfect for him to grow into C while being sheltered and brought along by Monahan, Backlund and Stajan.

Just 2 seasons ago he was traded to the Jets for pick #74 and #124 in the 2013 draft.

It will be interesting where he fits in with the Flames relative to David Jones who had .48 ppg while Frolick had .51... Jones 2 hits per game Frolick .75 hits/game.

On the Jets Frolick's lack of physical presence was not a big deal as he always had 2 or 3 heavy playing players on the ice with him..... With the Flames I am worried he will be a larger version of mason Raymond.

Jones 28 pts in 63 games even strength.... frolick 32 even strength pts in 82 games
