What did everyone think of the show? Should we start a new thread in case we spoil it for someone?

I added a spoiler warning to the thread title.
I thought it was good. William Fichter (or "Bill Fichter" as he was listed in the credits for some reason) is a great addition to the cast. Last season, Scofield was largely faced off against moron prison gaurds and inmates...the Fichter character is someone that can match wits with him and that changes the dynamics of the series quite a lot.
I'm glad to see the g/f get bumped off. Frankly I don't give a rat's rear end about the conspiracy angle of the storyline. If we compare Prison Break to a similar classic show in the Fugitive - what made the Fugitive so great was the simplicity of the plot. Man accused and convicted of a crime he didn't commit and is on the run to prove his name. No government conspiracy behind it - just a one armed bad guy. Modern TV shows try to be too complex at times...in the case of Prison Break a conspiracy reaching the Presidency simply isn't necessary and takes away from the driving force of the show.
Moreover, she also had the worst line of the episode.
"Did someone commit a crime"
"Yeah. The President".
Barf. Who writes tripe like that.
All in all a good show though...but if they can narrow the focus down a little more it can be even better.

I was glad to see her gone too. What is Scofield gonna do now that he's met his match?

I thought it was a little too easy for Fichner's character to come up with his ideas- in reality it would take investigators a while to figure out the tattoos. And how did they get detailed pics of them? You'd think Scofield would be more careful. And the cemetary thing? Getting ideas from an officers namebadge and having instant access to non-existent death databases of "this particular county.".... I don't know.
I had a funny feeling they would kill off one or more characters in the first show, you know, actors getting new gigs or just written out. Was surprised it was the girlfriend, I thought it might be an escapee. There's a whole season for that though!

I was a little surprised that Haywire and Tweener didn't get any mention/update. Its funny the police & FBI are hot on the tail of the group by solving complex clues, however they can't find a crazy guy on a kids bicycle wearing a football helmet?

I thought it was a great way to kick off the season, I was suprised that the girl lawyer got whacked like that. I don't know why they didn't show Haywire or Tweener either and I just wonder what is going to happen with T-bag.

I agree pretty good start.
I like the addition of the FBI Agent. like the Fugative he is the "Gerard" of this show.
No suprise the G/F is dead either. To many story lines to follow I think. Although the consipircy angle will still have to be played out sometime. only way to keep the show going that is after all why Burrows is on the run.
overerall it was a great setup show for the season.

The show has an altered sense of reality to be sure, but last season it primarily benefited the prisoners. Many times I watched and thought "it was far too easy for Scofield to...". At least now the show has a bit more balance.

He did see him take a pill and the cementray so I am sure that will come into play somehow.
Great show, glad the girlfriend is gone.
Did anyone see the scenes from next week? Tweener buys a ticket to Utah?

Is it just me or are there way too many shows these days where the crime goes "straight to the top"? Off the top of my head I can recount atleast 3, and I know there are way more.
Maybe it has something to do with not trusting the current government, but they seem to be be everywhere, and I am getting really bored and tired of these corrupt president story angles.

Was it just me, or was the beginning a bit disconnected from the end of last season? I recall it ended at night, and the cop cars were closing in on them as they starting running and in the direction they were running more cars appeared over a hill. Then suddenly this season it just cuts to them running through the trees in bright sunlight. I wasn't really impressed with this.
Scofield always seemed far too brainy, and "Moulder" seems far too brainy this season. Also, if Scofield is so meticulous, would he have not painted over the pinholes in his condo? And would he have just tossed paper into the river instead of burning it?
It's TV so one must turn their "willing suspension of disbelief" up a few notches and I guess I didn't turn mine up high enough last night. It'll be tough for the writers to keep the series as fresh as it was the first season.

I just kind of assumed that they would have photographed his tattoos when he came in to the prison but likely not in that much detail. I don't think anyone could claim that this show aims for realism but that to me is part of its appeal. It's fun, and like Grant said, I think its a good thing that the conspiracy angle can (hopefully) go to the back burner for now and focus on the pursuit.

I figured they got the tattoo designs from the tattoo artist.

Exactly. Frankly its the reason I stopped watching 24 and X-Files, and if I do stop watching Prison Break it will be because I get tired of the conspiracy angle. And at least 2 or 3 new shows this fall have a similar slant to them.
A strong single character antagonist is typically more effective for me than "the whole world is out to get us".
Lost being a notable exception.

That would work too, but in my "applying logic to an illogical show" thinking, I guess I'd assume that Scofield would have had them destroyed, while the photographing of his tattoos in prison would have been unavoidable. Ah well - it's Prison Break - it doesn't matter!

^^ they got the photos from the tattoo artist, which scofield gave her so she could do it exactly right.
Man this show is sweet. Next week looks crazy.
I missed the first season though....have a couple questions...
1) Was scofield's brother a target fallguy, or just some random guy
2) Why would the vice-president want to fake his brothers death?

Ok Ghost, the answers are below, in white font, just in case some people didn't understand the Spoilers tag in the headline. If you intend on watching the first season at all, then you might not want to read them. But if you are just going to pick up here, feel free. Others can add info should they know better than I do- I forgot some stuff.
Answers to the questions:
1) Lincoln was not randomly chosen- Michael and Lincoln's dad used to work for "the company" and the dad screwed the company. They chose Lincoln hoping to flush out the father and get some sort of payback on him. That is still an open storyline, what will happen with the father.
2) Firstly, the VP is a lady, and at the end of last season she becomes President when the former President is murdered (by her people). We don't know the details about why she wanted him dead, but we do know bits and pieces. I forget all of them, but they are all over the place in the first season.
