Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 15s16 seconds agoLewis Gross, agent for Brandon Saad, disputes that they asked for a 6-year deal. Won't say how many years but six wasn't discussed.

Paliotta is better than Kenney Morrison IMO. More points in the NCAA, 6'4'' right shooting d-man.

Broadhurst is probably a tweener with bottom 6 potential.

The way is opening for a changing of the guards at the top of the West.
This sounds like the Hawks looked at his contract demands, looked at the possibility of a offer sheet and threw in the towel and got a decent return.

Jackets have several good young centers, like Jenner, Wennberg, not to mention Johanson and Dubinsky. They could afford to move a good young prospect like Dano for a great up and coming winger

Still possible Calgary could offer sheet him.

I doubt the Flames would submit an offer sheet to any RFAs considering Brian Burke is part of the organization.

Greg Wyshynski @wyshynskiSaad goes to Columbus, where 22-year-old franchise player Ryan Johansen took a $4M bridge deal to give his team flexibility.

You got to wonder what Johansen thinks if Saad gets that big deal

Great trade for Columbus. Teams in the West like to send their players east and vice versa. Would have loved to add Saad to the Flames. At least we benefited getting Hamilton

He might still get offersheeted. Can't imagine Columbus giving him 6.5M/yr, aren't they a strict budget team?

Damn, I like Anisimov. Not as much as Aeneas, but enough. Good pickup.

#CBJ and Brandon Saad's agent, Lewis Gross, are working on a long-term contract with the hope of having it signed and sealed tonight.

If someone offers him that $6.5 mill contract, I think Columbus just says "thanks for the #1 draft picks" and walks away.

They drafted Marko Dano with their 2013 1st rounder.

Saad has been a ley secondary scoring player for the Hawks all these playoff runs and a energy guy.I'm sure this wasn't an easy decision.

Anisimov is a stud. Could be lethal for the Hawks.
