I wonder if all that "not liked in the dressing room" talk allowed Calgary to get a better deal. Hamilton sticking it to the Bruins organization a bit.

If the $5.75MM number is true, then what an unbelievable day for the Flames franchise.

Pair this with the Brodie contract and you have 2 young, extremely talented anchors on the blueline for term and extremely good value. Great day to be a Flames fan.

Hamilton extension is 6 yrs and close to $34.5 mil total. Flames pushed for 8 yrs and Hamilton wanted 5. Good compromise.

I guess when you build a winner the right way, players will want to play for you making a little less than the market value. Incredible to get him close to the rumors of 5.5. Just unbelievable.

I can't believe it. I would've been happy with $6.75m... but $5.75m???? For 6 years????

I am now of the mindset Giordano's contract will be very favorable with Brad handling it. We really lucked out getting him as our GM, though we were more than due after enduring a dufus parade for the better part of two decades.

This is awesome. Methinks we'll keep Gio for less than $9mil.

Treliving can do what he wants. Hamilton is lucky Brad feels like paying him at all.

Also clears up that the Flames could have in fact signed him to an 8 year deal that was being discussed earlier.

If Gio want's to be on a good team for the rest of his career he better not want 9 million a season and sign a favourable deal!
