With a 6 year deal I'm guessing he's going to be making more than Brodie and will be UFA at the end of contract. They are skipping the whole entry level contract, bridge contract and then payday contract model.
I'm still hoping the deal could be around 5.5 AAV... maybe a bit optimistic

It's not so cut and dry I don't think. The bridge deal can end up hurting the team more aka the Subban deal. I agree with your point re: Brodie though, he must feel like he left money on the table.
On the other hand, they probably all feel like they're building a legitimate Stanley Cup contender and are excited about that.

I think the biggest thing to come out of this is how much of a deal we are getting with Brodie.
|
We are talking about a guy who, at barely 22 is playing Top 4 minutes and playing them well and is projected to top out as a #1, potentially Franchise Defenceman.
And we're looking at locking him up for under $6M? I think that qualifies as a 'super deal.'

Well done Treliving. About as low as you could hope for.
Now let's just hope he goes on to earn every cent and more.
To be quite honest these contracts always make me a little nervous.

This is a good deal for everyone. Shocked Boston traded him for half a million or so.

Dissapointed this Thread changed to 'signing'. This is still rumour. Hoped this site would continue to be better than that.

Budding franchise D who was a high first round pick -- that's what you pay.
Love Brodie but he doesn't have the same pedigree -- late round long shot that has panned out beautifully. Hamilton's high ranking from the draft, and subsequently living up to it, gets him this contract.

Oh stop. It's about the closest thing to signing as it can be, with multiple sources saying its pretty much a done deal.

Somewhere in the middle right now.
If he becomes a true top pairing Defenseman, it's a Duncan Keith type ultra-super-deal that helps us contend for multiple cups.
If he doesn't really progress defensively, it's still a really good deal, as it's essentially what Montreal is paying for Jeff Petry, and Dougie's better.

It was always going to be a signing, the only variables are the term and dollars.

Hamilton extension is 6 yrs and close to $34.5 mil total. Flames pushed for 8 yrs and Hamilton wanted 5. Good compromise.
$5.75 AAV Bitches!

Much better, much younger with stratospherically higher upside.
I cant wait to see what Hamilton can do alongside Brodie, Gio, Russell and Wideman.

Aav for Hamilton will come in around $5.75. Paperwork is still being processed.

That would make the difference between the Bruins offer and what Hamilton signed for $250k per year.
That is crazy to jettison him out of town so quickly for that.
Brodie and Hamilton locked up for the next 5 years at a combined $10.5 million. I like that.
