Maybe he bet that Hamilton would land in Calgary, won $100mil, and consequently blew it all in Vegas in one night.

That doesn't really fit the narrative of ESPN being "shocked" when they heard what happened.

Wasn't there an incident on better with Gretzky's wife? I recall players were involved, but don't recall any of them with terminated contracts...

Vanek had something last year but it just blew over too, right?

Mike Richards was moonlighting as a Toronto radio host while under contract with LA.

@mlse TSN 690 in MTL indicated they were told that Richards "had an incident at a border crossing". P.McGuire confirmed it w/o more details

Stuff trickling out on Twitter and elsewhere on the internet about a "border crossing" incident.

Eric Macramalla TSN legal analyst comments here;

http://www.tsn.ca/radio/ottawa-1200/...kings-1.321374

His first comment was that most often professional sports terminations fail to void contracts and that arbitrators take a very dim view of the attempt. He said the only successful case in MLB was where an Astros player tried to strangle the GM.

He then says he has learned of the reason for the Richards termination - he will not state it as he cannot confirm it - but he says while it is "interesting" and while it "got my attention" he does not believe it is sufficient to warrant termination.

Says the NHLPA cannot let this precedent stand. Look for a big fight from Don Fehr.

This gets curiouser and curiouser!

If he was caught with drugs at the border he might be inadmissible to the U.S. going forward. That would put him in breach of his contract. It would also make him incredibly stupid in light of Stoll being busted recently.

Which is why the very first thing I said was "I'm not saying this is what Mike Richards did..."

I just had a general curiousity since gambling had been brought up in the thread.

Carter was at the border and was like guys I think we should have a Pepsi party. Stoll and Richards look at each other and say......we prefer Coke!

Details now leaking out, matter of time before the dam bursts. STOP TEASING! I hate non-sports sports stories usually but this one's juicy.

I'll be sorely disappointed if this thread doesn't end up being as fun as RUMOR: Ugly news out of Montreal tomorrow, featuring such memorable posts as:

I dont want to go through all the pages but can someone tell me if the accusations of habs player(s) drugging an ungerage girl and being in a prostitution ring is true?
