Well now we actually have 3 lefties and 3 righties on defense you'd think they will all play their natural side. So even though Gio, Brodie and Russell can all play top 4, we will probably have them on different pairings. As much as I love Russell, I'd be giving more minutes to Gio and Brodie. Hamilton looks to be the guy logging the most minutes on the right side. Wideman seems ahead of Engelland. That gives us when fully healthy:

Giordano-Hamilton
Brodie-Wideman
Russell-Engelland

Pretty amazing depth. Five top 4 defensemen and arguably three top pairing guys in Gio, Brodie and Hamilton. If one goes down to injury we'll still be strong.

God is it ever funny to see an attention whore Oilers troll come rushing into a Flames forum and a thread about a Flames trade with Boston and pretty much beg for validation.

How sad is your life, Verve?

As much as I want to see them play, I'll take couple more months of the hot summer.

Verve reminds of the guy from my avatar. Sorry verve, but I think you will just have to accept that the oilers will never get better. Ever.

If the Oilers are still in contention for a playoff spot in January, we'll talk to Verve.

For now the troll should be ignored.

Anyways I actually kinda don't want the Gio-Brodie pair to break up. They have so much chemistry. But I'm guessing we see Gio-Hamilton as the top pair, Gio can mentor Hamilton and improve his game even. As Gio gets older, he'll get bumped and Brodie-Hamilton can start building chemistry.

Ya, I can understand the optimism for Talbot. Nothing says "we are gonna address goaltending" like throwing a 2nd, 3rd and a 7th at the problem. And getting back up goalies with great numbers is bound to work sooner or later.

Looks good for the Oilers. Maybe contend for playoffs? Division? Multiple cups in the next 5 years?

Can't wait to see how the Oilers manage to #### this up.

Yamoto san, O-genki desu ka? I do not want to hijack this thread to talk about Oilers or answer to personal digs but I am ok with friendly banters. I came in to discuss Hamilton as in my earlier post indicated. Hamilton is a great addition for the Flames. As for the Oilers, of course they will improve. They will have too with their new additions (from coaches, GM to players), but I should discuss this in another thread.

If Gio is asking for 8-9 million and Hamilton probably be asking for 7.5-8 million, that is a lot to tie up in two dmen...

Your concern is appreciated. The post you quoted didn't mention anything about contracts or numbers. Cam Talbot and Glen Sather's devious plot to reignite the Battle of Alberta wasn't mentioned in this thread before you brought it up, in a thread about Dougie Hamilton.

Stop trolling and contribute like an adult.

Hamilton won't be getting that much.

I suppose they could pay Nikitin, Schultz and Ference over $3m/year instead.

Haggerty stated the Hamilton group wanted way north of 5.5 million (more) in the 7 million or more. It has to be big enough for Boston to rid of a 22 yr old with high potential to be a top pairing guy...There is no one in their system close to Hamilton unless Chara decides to do a Benjamin Button and gets younger...

They are in a serious cap crunch.

Well, I have been trying to contribute like an adult but then I have to read personal insults like your edited out version of "eff off" (which is not very adult-like BTW).

Yup they are or were but if you have a Hamilton, you got to do everything to retain him and make it work...like freeing up space by trading Lucic away.

The funny thing about the B's cap crunch is that they were put there by a GM who turned a good team into a bad team over time because of his blunder after blunder. I wonder where that GM is now....

They're retaining 2.75 million of Lucic' contract, they're not saving all that much.

Chairelli really mismanaged the Bruins long term cap.
