Everyone calls him a "high risk, high reward" pick, but by selecting him at #60...he cant be considered high risk anymore. Most picks in this range never make it anyway, so to me it is a fantastic selection...if it doesn't work out we haven't invested that much into it.

For the Flames to be picking a guy that was projected to be a top 5 pick in this years' draft prior to the 14/15 season to start means that he has undeniable talent.
I firmly believe this will be the steal of the draft. It was quite shocking to see him almost fall out of the first 2 rounds. Good on management for trading both of our 3rds to grab him, there was no way he'd fall any further.

I hear a lot of questions regarding Kylington's Hockey IQ, but I don't think that's at all the issue, he probably just needs some direction and time spent with some defensive coaches. A guy I would look to is Gio there are many interviews he's said for him the biggest thing was confidence and experience that has allowed him to become such a good defenseman.
I can't find the one interview Gio talked directly about development of Dmen but I recall him saying some guys just need the exposure and experience while they develop and some guys the defensive knowledge comes later. If that's the case I don't worry too much about OK's chances, I think realistically we won't see him til he's 21-22 but there is a good chance all he needs is to sit down and go over video and things to focus on in his own zone.
I know myself I would never have thought about spacing and speed matching, but with OK he could be scary good in his zone just because of his fantastic skating ability, he just needs to know what to have awareness on. I don't play hockey sadly so maybe I'm just blowing smoke, maybe he tries to do too much himself because he doesn't trust his teammates in Sweden, I know jumping around leagues probably doesn't help for confidence or getting to know your teammates.

I like the pick a lot, but i'm tempering expectations. Speed is good, but without the smarts.....

Wind him up, watch him go. Great speed is his ticket to the NHL."

When can he play in A?
I know the SEL is a good mens league. I'm just curious since his x's and o's might be a weakness, it seems like getting him under the Flames development team as soon as possible might be a good idea.

He can play in the AHL as soon as this season if he signs with the Flames.
The Flames have a glut of blueliners already set for the AHL. Sieloff, Kulak, Culkin, Ramage, Morrision, and Kanzig. Yeah it would be nice to have him in the Flames system but there isn't a rush, and you don't want him in AHL without the proper ice time available.
He's 18, a year in the CHL would be great, the import draft should take place this will, will be interesting to see if he's taken.

Wow, he looked like the worst player on the ice in that game against Canada.

Probably not a bad thing for the Flames because it he looks great then he's not available at 60. Skills aren't a problem and the rest can be taught providing he's willing to work hard on his deficiencies. Great pick at 60.

This is a steal of a pick considering the limited amount of player's that actually play 100 games in the NHL. I like this high risk, high reward strategy. The kid obviously has skill and you can't teach that. You ether have it or you don't. What he needs now is some good coaching and training to get him to transfer those skills to the NHL.

Maybe at 20 he was a high risk/high reward.
At 60, it's just high reward. It's pretty hard to 'waste' your pick at #60 since the different agencies rank players so differently when it's that late in the draft.

Agree that the CHL (or stay in Sweden) is best for him. Don't think starting his ELC right away is the best. Would like him to develop his overall game more before signing him and having the clock start.

Assuming, he signed an NHL deal this year, his ELC wouldn't start unless he plays 10 NHL games or turns 20.

Loob on Kylington:
Unbelievable talent. Forseen to be a great player.
Stability and steadiness hasn't occured.
Development came too quick. They wanted to slow him down a little. He didn't really want to.
Great choice for CGY.
Sign him right away and bring him to NA.
Thinks the AHL is where he needs to be.
Best area for him to grow.
Could develop quick.
Needs to get out of SWE, not getting a fair shake.

Needs a plan and organizational stability.
Can be a premium player in the NHL.
Mature in his mentality.
Really thinks he should be in NA.
5 years ahead of kids in terms of skating. skating around much older players when he was 12.
Skating is unbelievable. Can blow by anyone in any league.
Need to grow defensively. Thinks getting into the AHL and seeing how heavy the league below the NHL is will help him understand.

Really good at 16-17 at creating offense in the main league.
Just too much pressure for coahces in SWE to play him when there is pressure to win games. Coaches got impatient with him when he was focusing on creating offense.
Great person. Great personality. Too ambitious.
He's going to be in the NHL for sure. Maybe 2 years out.
Needs a plan. 2-3 years, sign him without hesitation.

What are the rules regarding CHL assignment, should he make the decision to come over to North America? I think there was an import draft but not sure how that works.
It'd be awesome if we could get him to Barrie so he could develop alongside Andersson and Mangiapane.

Loob on Andersson:
Had his brother playing on his team.
Rasmus is an unbelieveable talent. A bit lazy and unfit. But can be fixed.
Thinks the Flames nailed their 2 picks.
Great talent, needs to be fit. Up to him how good he wants to be.
(almost exactly what Button and Tree said)
NA was a good option for him. Will show him what it takes on and off the ice. Its a lifestyle.
