But, a boring Sunday and fresh off the draft I thought we could discuss/rank the D prospect pool.

15 of them by my count, here is my order based on upside:

 1. (18) Oliver Kylington
 2. (19) Brandon Hickey
 3. (18) Rasmus Andersson
 4. (23) Kenney Morrison

I know people are down on Wotherspoon, but a development line is rarely smooth. I can't see the justification for putting him, a guy that has actually played at the NHL level, below someone like Kulak who spent the bulk of the year in the ECHL.

I can see that point of view for sure.

I ranked my Dmen based on what I feel their NHL upside is if they hit it.

While Wotherspoon is probably more likely to be an NHLer at this point, I think that based on Kulak's skating, shot and offensive capabilities he has more upside in the NHL if they were to both make it.

			1. Kylington by a mile. I'll even be so bold as to put him as the teams best over all prospect (not including Bennett)

 2. Wotherspoon
 3. Hickey
 4a. Andersson
 4b. Morrisson
 6. Rafikov
 7. Culkin
 8. Kulak
 9. Kanzig
 10. Mattsson (ranked lower because I don't anyone has seen anything of him yet. we'll find out this prospect camp)
 11. Seiloff
 12. Ramage
 13. Gilmour
 14. Bruce

Acolaste I don't think will be back.

wow... there are a lot of guys here that are basically calling Trevling and the Flames management stupid in talent evaluation.
They picked Andersen at pick #53 and passed on Kylington.... full stop. Then 6 other teams passed on Kylington... 2 that picked d-men.

But based on some Central scouting report done 6 months ago that had Kylington highly rated they figure OMG we got a 1st rounder. They just choose to ignore the reports that in some games Kylington was awful... a game changer ... in a bad way.

There can be some arguments made in the abstract about Wotherspoon or Seiloff or Hickey being better or worse because of numerous variables. But in this clear cut case of talent evaluation taking 2 days ago .. the best hockey minds that the Flames can muster made a clear choice that Andersen was better than Kylington.

Are we not allowed to have our own opinions? Some people may and I think are basing their lists on who has the highest ceiling.

Yeah, I mean how DARE we have or own thoughts? How dare we!
Is there a better skating player on this list than Kylington? Flat out, no.
Does he need to develop just like the others on this list? hell yes.
Does he have the highest upside of any player on this list? By a country mile.

EDIT: There's a reason he was considered a top 5 talent a year ago. One sidetracked injury plagued season doesn't ruin a players career.

This all day long.

In response to one of Ricardo's dumber posts.

Maybe some people are smarter than you give them credit for?

Lots of people (smart people who have watched him agree) with the sentiment that he's a steal there.
