That's sounds good to me. It would mean we drafted an NHL player in the 6th round, and a Paul Byron who is roughly 3" taller and 15lbs heavier (at 19) sounds like even more of a win to me.
I agree completely. I wasn't being negative. All the things listed about this guy such as speed and compete level for a smaller guy sounds like Byron, who also had an impressive scoring season in junior.

When we drafted Andersson, the first thing I did was look up on hockeydb what his stats were relative to his team. I noticed that the Colts had 3 high scoring forwards (one an overager and one drafted by San Jose in the 6th round last year). Mangiapane stood out to me, but it was still a surprise when we drafted him.
The funny thing is, he is only 6 months older than Andersson even though he was passed up at last year's draft.

The OHL scout from McKeens that I follow on twitter thinks that despite Magpie being a draft overager, he is an absolutely legit NHL prospect. Was suprised he didnt go at all last year and thinks he has a pretty good shot at a middle 6 spot in the NHL in the future. Could be a great under the radar type pick. Hes a little smallish (but by no means "tiny") and definately has some skills and smarts.
Slipping through both the OHL Priority Draft and the 2014 NHL Draft, Mangiapane earned his moment in Florida, with the Calgary Flames selecting the 19-year-old in the sixth round (No. 166) of the 2015 draft.
“It feels … I’m speechless,” Mangiapane said. “Speechless. So surreal. It’s been a great day. I’m just so happy. I’m so speechless. The smile will be there for at least a week. My body just went into shock. I just got all numb and was like, ‘Wow, did I just hear my name?’ It was so surreal. It’s a great experience just being here.”
As a 15-year-old, Mangiapane didn’t generate enough interest amongst Ontario Hockey League clubs to garner a selection. Instead, he participated in a camp with the Barrie Colts, earning a spot as a free agent.
But after recording 24 goals and 51 points in his rookie campaign with the Colts, the 5-foot-9 forward sat in the stands in Philadelphia as 30 teams, using 210 picks, passed him over last June.
“It was quite a long journey, I’d say, a difficult one,” he said. “I didn’t get drafted into the OHL. I’ve got to thank (coach) Dale (Hawererchuk) and the Barrie organization for that. They picked me up as a free agent and they signed me then. I couldn’t have done it without them. I don’t know where I’d be … probably playing Junior A somewhere.”
Mangiapane used each snub as motivation.

Bumping to up to share a few quotes from Burke on the radio today.
Said Mangiapane is a "rat" and a "mean little SOB" who is small (he objected to the Toronto radio host who suggested he's as small as Johnny) but plays a mean game and is relentless on the puck.
Said something about Gaudreau being a martian with his other-worldly skill set and while Johnny scores goals from farther out Mangiapane will score a ton of 2 and 4 foot goals battling to go to the net.
Said he really likes the player and thinks he has a chance. Whether that meant in general or next season, not sure. But Burke sounded really high on Mangiapane today.

I'm just hoping eat bread will be our Gallagher or Marchand. Just a little shift disturber who other teams hate to play against not only because he lights the lamp but because he is irritating.
We need one of those.

Yah that's the way Burke pretty much described him today on the radio as the other poster mentioned. Said he is a battler, mucks it up and will score from 2-3 feet from the net and come out with a black eye... he did also mention that his skating needs work though.
