Frolik wants to get paid probably into the 5 million for 5 years.

We pretty much have 16 NHL forwards right now IMO.
Some bodies probably need to be moved out and that's without even adding any UFA forwards.
Can't wait to see how it pans out.

Adding Frolik on a 2-3 year deal would make this an ideal summer for me. I don't know if we really need a goalie that badly after adding Hamilton. I would be happy going into the season with a Hiller/Ortio tandem.

Well Glencross hasn't hit 20 in three seasons and has only done so twice.

Flames might still be looking for a Dman, it's hardly a foregone conclusion. It depends what the team's long term plans with Giordano, Wideman and Russell are. If they do snag a guy like Sekeras, he would be an upgrade over Russell/Wideman leaving one of them available as trade bait.
Giordano-Brodie
Sekeras-Hamilton
Russell-Engelland
Treliving is proactive and a long term planner, he'll make a decision of Russell and Wideman sooner rather than later. Personally, I really like them both but I could see one of them being gone before the season starts and maybe both gone by/during 16/17. One of them for sure isn't getting re-signed IMO.

well one of them was the lockout shortened season when he put up 15 in 40 games to lead the team. That's a really strong pace in the shortened season.
Two years ago he put up 12 in 38 games of an injury shortened season, so the pace was there.
Last year was an off year but he still managed 13 goals in 71 games.
He won't be a $5,000,000 player. His injury concerns and his terrible finish to this season will end those conversations.
But he will be over $3,500,000.
My guess is somewhere around $4,000,000 in a 4 or 5 year deal

I doubt the Flames are looking for a dman. Probably focusing on locking up Hamilton and Gio long term and then will make a decision on Wideman/Russell. Might even wait for camp to see how Wotherspoon/Morrison progress and if Nakladal can push for a roster spot.
I think the Flames might target Frolik/Stewart. Stewart isn't very popular here but I think Treliving and Burke might be interested in adding some size. I also agree that a few of our forwards will either not get re-signed or will be traded away.
The Hiller/Ortio situation is interesting because I'd be fine with going into the season with them but I think the Flames have other plans. There's definitely a few moves still in the works...

Do the Flames even have cap room to go out and sign a free agent? If you're signing a UFA, you're obviously going to be offering up something significant for 3+ years if it's an impact player and while the Flames have space this year, I don't see management painting themselves into a corner after acquiring Hamilton, with Giordano still needing a contract and Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett needing new deals in 2-3 years.
Treliving was able to rob Boston because of poor cap management. Don't think he'll put himself in a similar position 4-5 years into the future.
Is there a good site now that shows player salaries for teams?

I stumbled on this site - don't know how accurate or up to date it is but it gives a general picture:

As it stands I would estimate that with all the RFA's locked up, the Flames would still have about $10 million cap space with a full roster.

I expect nothing more than housekeeping on July 1. Possibly a goalie shuffle.
In all honesty, the Flames have no urgent needs.

If Treliving thinks Hartley can get alot out of Stewart, I would like to see him here. I think he has more to offer than Lucic would have. But we need the size, he's just gotta find the heart.

Wow, 'Free Agent Frenzy' is really going to take a back seat to draft day trading this year. I can't recall a draft day with so many high impact trades for so many teams, this next season will look very different after just this one day

Absolutely. I have no desire personally, to see the Flames spend to the cap this season. If they do though, I'm quite confident it won't be done without long term cap implications being compromised. Starting to trust Treliving more and more with each passing move he makes.

With Lucic in the Pacific and with him potentially signing with Vancouver in a year, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a guy like Stewart. He can play and fight with heavyweights.

Jay Beagle
29 year old defensive center from Calgary
51-56% in the face off dot the last three seasons
Right hand shot, and can play wing
6'3" 215 lbs, and can scrap a little
Would be an perfect 4th line center, and as much as I like Stajan the last few years, I would love to see the Flames sign this guy and trade Stajan.

I guess we're still looking for a #1 goalie and I don't see any of the UFAs as an upgrade. Maybe Ward is available again after they acquired Lack?
