only a mid 2nd round pick is the difference between Reinhart and Hamilton

Overrated player. Gets a lot of respect just for being a high draft pick.

Oilers beat writer:

Derek Van Diest @SUNdvandiest
That's a terrible trade. Griffin Reinhart can't skate at the #NHL level. He's Cam Barker 2.0 ... #Oilers

Oil bloggers don't like the trade at all.

I haven't seen much of him, only a couple of games in the WHL. I wasn't impressed with him and couldn't figure out why he was so highly ranked in his draft year. Is he really that good? (Well, obviously not any more).

we used to laugh about Garth Snow, but that's yet another solid deal. Gets max value left for a guy they clearly drafted too high and get a guy most people had in the top 8 ... oh, and an early 2nd. Cutting their losses early for a guy who hasn't translated his game as well to pro hockey as hoped.

Captained an Edmonton hockey team to a Championship. You know who else has done that? Just a couple of guys named Gretzky and Messier.

Dougie Hamilton is only like what..?..8 months older than Griffin Reinhart, and he's an already established top 4 NHL Dman with almost 200 games under his belt.

We basically paid the same price for Hamilton as Edmonton paid for Reinhart.
