Thanks Street, Damage, MattyC and Sureloss for the clarification regarding the target offer sheet.
I hope that Hamilton does indeed negotiate with the Flames in good faith and that we can sign him to a reasonable offer. I am excited to get such a caliber of player on the team, and the icing on the cake would be a good contract to go with it.
Good contract would be icing, cherry, gravy and bacon all on top.
was already excited today for the draft... Now I'm absolutely elated! (literally doing the dougie for the past 30 minutes).
so awesome how this worked out. As others have said, thanks Sven for making it possible and giving your number up for someone more deserving.
I am so excited for next year. Can't wait to see Dougie in flames silks and playing in our system! I think he could really break out even more next year with the way Bob gets our D-men to jump into the plays.
Wow...hes got Lowe's signature line down already, this guy is sharp!
I presume that hes at the draft 'Big Game Hunting?'
To be fair, on paper, I don't doubt the Oilers offered more, or were ready with an offer sheet July 1.
But Boston wanted no part of trading with/dealing their former GM (and who knows, maybe Hamilton had some unoffical say too), no matter the price.
I'd like to think that the Bruins took the Flames (/rivals of the Oilers) offer (sounds as if Treliving had been talking to Boston for a while) in part due to that.
I just find it hard to believe that a team, other then the Oilers, wouldn't have given up more than what the Flames did for Hamilton, so there has to be some back story....if it's simply out of spite to Chirelli, yes, thank you Sweeney!

Treliving says he plans to talk to Hamilton's agent, J.P. Barry, tonight, and he's not worried about signing him to a new contract.
