Oilers are sour and playoffs are sweet. Thank you Sweeney for this blue line treat!

Almost had a heart attack coming in here. This trade is beastly though. Can't believe Treliving pulled this off without giving up a young core player. Would have liked to see us make those picks but Hamilton beats that out easily. He turned 22 a week ago. What a deal.

Giordano - Brodie
Hamilton - Russell
Wideman - Engelland
Smid
Wotherspoon

Dare I say another year of seasoning for Dougie/TJ and that's a contender blue line. Solid, solid top 5. That's sick.

Edit: forgot Engelland...much depth.

This is awesome. Our young core had so much potential already, and now we add a 22 year old RHD beast to the mix.

Wow. Just wow. If you had said we would walk away from this draft with a potential Dougie Hamilton quality defenseman I would have been happy. But to actually walk away from this draft with Dougie Hamilton? Whaaaaaa? Just for draft picks??? I'm shocked. I hope he fits in and becomes that number one defenseman the Flames need. Man, what an up and coming team!

Hamilton trade a cautionary tale in bad salary cap management. My blog.

What a great trade for the Flames. What is Boston doing to themselves.

They should have held off though...we won't get as many 'we have a trade to announce' calls tonight!

Imagine us signing a guy like Sekera???

Giordano - Brodie
Sekera - Hamilton
Russell - Wideman

I would try:

Giordano-Hamilton
Brodie-Wideman
Russell-Engelland

That's a LH-RH shot on all three pairings.

So basically if we play Backlund, Brodie, and Hamilton together at the same time we'll break the stats and be >100%.

Wow, holy sh**balls. What outstanding news to wake up to!
I never thought they would actually be able to pull off a trade for a player like Hamilton.
Well done Treliving!

Apparently my friend took a screen capture of this (likely edited by a BOS fan), minutes before it was changed.

Under "Professional" , the last line ...

To add to this, the graph indicates the Selke winner Bergeron and recent Norris winner Chara are both going to really miss Hamilton.

I left my meeting and was rolling home with the NHL Network on and they talked about the trade.... I just about crashed.

TOTALLY WORTH IT

Yup and then when McDavid comes to RFA you hammer the crap out of the Oilers and destroy their salary structure.
