You don't fart around with short term deals with a player like Hamilton. Especially @ 5.5 AAV if true. Full term, go all out. my mind is melting.

Very happy with the addition of Hamilton. This trade could wash out over time, but for where the Flames are in the rebuild and organizational needs this was a tailored solution.
Great move Treveling!

I have not been this excited about a trade for awhile. Treliving is looking to be an awesome GM , and I think we got ourselves a keeper in him.

So all the goalie chatter was just a smoke screen? I like it.
Monahan, Bennett, Gaudreau, Brodie and Hamilton. Every one of these guys has top line/star potential. Crazy good young talent the Flames have.

We just got a potential franchise D, without giving up any of our young core. I can't stop smiling.

What an epic day this has been and the draft hasn't even started yet.
It started off with everyone losing their minds over the idea of trading 2 second round picks for Talbot to everyone losing their minds over us acquiring Hamilton. God I love this sport.

This is exactly the type of player us genius armchair GMs have been calling for. I just can't believe they pulled it off...especially with minimal impact.
And we still have a 2nd in the draft (this is exactly why you trade UFAs like Glencross!). Not bad at all.

What a brutal first trade for Sweeney. Gotta feel bad for that guy.

YES!!!! Our defence is officially stacked.
Look at the history of 15th OAs. It's not an impressive list. I'm fine with this. We're fast tracking and he's a budding NHLer already. Impressive, savvy move, Treliving. This is why you accumulate picks!

This is the type of trade that if it was suggested on CP, someone would counter it with the proverbial "laugh and hang up immediately" phrase.
Such a win for the Flames!

It would have been an immensely depressing day if Calgary sent the 2 second rounders for Talbot. What a swing in emotions today!

Woke up early to watch the draft festivities, but got this notification.
Absolutely elated with the trade and not giving up Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett or Brodie.
Robbery.
I love how all of the core pieces are in the early 20s age range now and can grow together.
EDIT: I also can't remember the last time the Flames were clear cut winners of a trade like this. Hockey Gods corrected the Phanuef deal.

Yes he was. All the stupid contracts with NTC and cap hell, that is why the Bruins fired him. He will do the same in Edmonton as their cap space is getting tight already and he has no defence or goaltending, haha.
