Scouting is always better than just looking at a player numbers. Numbers never tell the whole story. There's no number for heart, no number for consistently outmuscling everyone on the ice, etc.
But let's play your game for a bit.
Lucic had 9 goals in his draft year in junior and scored 30 in the NHL.
Lawson Crouse had 29 goals in 56 games in his draft year. So it's certainly not inconceivable that he could be a 30 goal scoring power forward based on history is it?
A 30 goal scoring power forward should be a top 10 pick. Those are very valuable players. Sometimes underrated by some fans. There's not many huge, power forward 30 goal wingers out there. I'm sure you can count them on two hands. Name them if you can. Clearly they are a rare and valuable commodity.
Doesn't look like anyone will have to worry about us dealing up to take Crouse. In fact it sounds like we might've wanted to deal up to take Hanifin, Provorov or Werenski maybe. Treliving was a defenseman and I think he's been trying to acquire a big young top pairing guy for a while.
