I'm not knocking Gaudreau at all because I think he is a great young player, but wow just wow.

Please don't think all fans believe this. McDavid will be better than Gaudreau. I think everyone outside the 403 area code believes this to be true. Probably Johnny himself

I think Polak, at least for the most part, posts a lot of things on this board that 99.9% of the population wouldn't agree with.

Just trying to wrap my head around a Gaudreau + Monahan for McDavid deal...

Gaudreau and Monahan are already combining for 125pts+, are we assuming McDavid will top 125pts in the NHL? That's assuming Gaudreau and Monahan have hit their ceilings, of course. One or the other for McDavid, sure. But both? Is McDavid really worth two 60-65-point top-line players who are 20/22 years old? I don't know about that...not even Crosby is posting 125pts.

They should try and get pennies on the dollar for chara instead of moving Hamilton imo. (Unless he has a ntc as I didn't look)

Hamilton is one of the few players I am okay with the Flames trading the 15th pick for. No Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, or Brodie though

it would take 2 x 15th overall picks for Hamilton IMO.

Hamilton is no Pronger, lets not be crazy. He's an awesome young d-man, no doubt. But he isn't even half as physically dominant a force as Pronger was.

Yeah I know we add to 15 but rather not include another 1st unless it is heavily protected.

Back to Hamilton, it is the ideal defenseman the any team basically wants to draft, and develop, and have as part of the core of your team, and you can get that today without the 3-4 year wait (and hope that the guy you draft will stay on the development path)

83 points in 178 NHL games....6'5 215. Outside of the money, have to wonder if there is a back story as to why he may be available. Trade talks stalled porbably because he has a (unofficial list) and the Bruins are asking the moon....should be interesting.

If Gaudreau is assisting a Monahan goal, or Monahan assisting a Gaudreau goal, they might be "combining" for 2 points but they're only producing one goal...

I know it's unpopular but Bennett for Hamilton would be fair

But Crosby and say Blake Comeau come in at 115 pts... Crosby and Hornquist 135 pts missing 22 games.

Is Hamilton as good as Tyler Myers?

The Jets had to give Kane and Bogosian to get him but got bad basically 3 1st round picks as well and A top-6 play-off rental as well.

Maybe, if you ignore age, contract status and Hamilton's soon to be massive salary.

Yeah, but McDavid is only one player. One less player you have to shutdown, one less player available if one gets injured, etc. Plus they combined for 55 goals.

Doesn't really work that way. A better stat, IMO, is total number of team goals McDavid would contribute to vs. Monahan/Gaudreau. A lof of Monahan/Gaudreau points overlap each other.

In the last week I've learned polak wouldn't trade Gaudreau for McDavid and doesn't think the Flames would sell out McMahon stadium on a weekday at 2pm if the Stanley Cup ceremony was there. Not sure if he's a troll or not.

James Mirtle @mirtle
Sounds like Dougie Hamilton talk heating up. Boston very busy. Bruins asking for high-ish first-round pick as part of package.
